Fallout 1 and 2

This is a bit of a long shot but here goes..

I found my old-ass copies of Fallout 1 and 2 recently. It was a welcome blast from the past, so of course I tried to install them on windows 7, but when running the game the color palette is all messed up. Tried compatibility modes, running in 256 colors, downloading weird "patches" from online, etc. Nothing will work. The videos have wonky colors and the menus and game screen black out and don't get revealed til you mouse over each part, then black out again. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Also, just a general Fallout 1 and 2 appreciation thread. Best games ever

The other alternative is that for like $10 each you can buy them to run on a modern system at GOG.com

Yea you paied for them once, but think of this as a really good emulator for you computer so you can run them again.

I picked up 1 and 2 from GOG.com before 3 hit the market for the PS3 (ok, before it got cheap.) I wasn't an RPG fan when they were new ( I was a combat flight simmer then.) 3 was......disapointing. Looking forward to New Vegas!

Wow forgot about this thread. I managed to get around it with some weird tweaking, administrator mode in 256 colors in some sort of compatibility mode (for like windows 97 or something like that). finally!

And i preordered New Vegas. Can't wait. getting the classic preorder pack for the Vault 13 throwback.

If you ever decide to get these games digitally as well or something goes wrong with the tweaks...like the other guy said www.gog.com is legit for old games.
