Klassen wheel mishap...

Thought I would share (sorry if its a repost).

Is this the first Klassen wheel failure?

This LP640 0wner was cruising (70-80mph) down I95 (Miami) when all of a sudden...Car is at the dealer right now and driver is fine.

Edit: Looks like Klassen is talking to the owner about covering any damage to the Lambo.

Yikes, those are crazy expensive too. Not much of a contact point too, almost don't even look like they are solid, filled arches.

O shoot, I'm sure Frank is taking care of the guy. Dang that sucks. I have Klassens as well never had any issues even close to this. Must be due to whoever the owner used to re powdercoat the rims.

woah that sucks. its hard to believe cruising at that speed would make a wheel break like that. were the wheels new? the only way something like this happen is if the powder coating was done improperly. I've had my ssr sp1 break on me like this driving 35 mph but it was because the powder coater over baked my wheels. i'm sure klassen will take care of it if it was their fault. good luck to you man.

Talked to my buddy Frank over at Klassen.. The wheels are being air freighted back for inspection.

Klassen has touched based with him first hand to resolve the issue, but it goes to tell you, assembly and dis-assembly for recondition of wheels should be always handled by their manufactures.

I have been following the thread at lambopower.
The wheels were purchased used, and were taken apart for painting, then reassembled.

Frank is prob the best and most honest owner your going to find out there. Although the guy bought them used and also had them re-done from a 3rd party vendor, Klassen still steps up and takes care of the issue, Now that's service.

Sounds like a butt-cover to me. I'd do the same thing, while quietly contacting my lawyer to make sure I have my rights straight if and when I decide to deny reimbursement due to some bizzare contributing factor beyond my control, like somebody buying used wheels for a lamborghini and having them disassembled and refinished.

Guys Jim here at CWS/NUTEK, KLASSEN; Before people start flinging mud there are facts that need to be brought to the table...of course everyone in the wheel business never wants to deal with this sort of situation, however the facts are this;

This set of wheels was purchased second hand, they came off a Lambo that was twin turbo charged making over 900hp, during the nearly 2 years they were on that vehicle the customer never had any issues. Recently that customer sold these wheels to another party and the wheels were taken apart and refinished, unfortunately they were not sent to us to conduct this service so somebody other than Klassen has modified and worked on the wheels, which in most cases would void any warranty involvement, but we are very concerned about this happening and we are taking the steps to continue standing behind our product.
Before everyone starts throwing mud it is valuable to find out the facts, because there are many possibilities other than the wheel itself that could have caused this situation...one example is this could have occurred if the installer did not torque the lugs properly and the wheel came loose on the car, if this is the case then we will find out...in the meantime we have stepped up and are paying the freight to have the entire set of wheels sent to us for inspection, and we will work with the customer to find a resolution and stand behind our product.
In the meantime I think some professional courtesy is in order, and under no circumstances did we ever deny or refuse to stand behind our product, no matter what Customer Service is Priority #1. Frank and I have been in this business for many years and reputation means everything, so please know that we are taking every measure to stand behind our products and we will continue to do so considering the circumstances.

Thank you all for being professional and courteous.

Regards,
Jim

Jim,

good to see you on here.
We have been a vendor for Nutek/Klassen wheels for quite some time and never had issues with the integrity of the wheels. Which is why we support them fully and whole heartedly.

Klassen has air shipped the wheels back to them to investigate further on this isolated incident. The facts are that the wheels were bought used and was refinished. The wheels were taken apart and painted/powdercoated, which might have severed the integrity of the material as well as the construction. Further investigation should shed some light on this and I think that it is only fair to reserve some opinions and not jump into conclusions on this.

I'd also like to share that it is first and foremost the level of support and customer service that Klassen and Nutek has shown our customers that has given me the confidence to stand behind them and support them.
