Scratched Wheel Repair

As much as I try to be extremely careful with my wheels, I hit the curb with my left rear wheel as I was entering the garage and got it scratched.

It is not terrible, but I still feel bad about it.

Unfortunately I am particularly picky about wheels. I can probably just let it go, but I am still want to know what I can do to get it fixed or at least "cleaned" so that it does not look like bitten fingernails. Any suggestions?

That would be enough of an excuse for me to get new rims, you should order some and sell me your old set for cheap since they're wrecked now

Ye Olde Wheel Shop is pretty good. I had a larger curb rash on one of my M Coupe's wheels and they made it look brand new. Not sure if they always work this way, but I drove to Tischer where they had a truck set up in the back to do the work.

I would consider if the damage was seriously depressing, but it looks like I can live with it . I will still get it repaired though.

I had Ye Olde Wheel Shop do the rim on my Porsche when the clowns that assured me they could put a 35 series tire on my rim scratched the hell out of it. Dude did good work and did it quick.

And it was worth a try to get you out of them, I want to powder coat a set for my M3 and it's a lease so I can't do mine.

I don't know from personal experience, but I've heard a lot of bad things about BMW of Fairfax's shop

I've heard bad things about the service center, but haven't heard anything about the collision center.

its a bit far from you but Boteler Automotive in beltsville did some wheels for me a couple years back. They have the hunter tc3500 i believe which clamps the wheel from the inside without scratches. i would say any shop that has one of these machines that doesnt use a tabletop design to clamp the rim would be good for mounting the tires. oh yea and +1 for ye old. Problem with them is that they have a wait of a couple of weeks. I've gotten multiple wheels fixed by them and they are pretty good. For curb rash i think they will charge you $65 or $75 and the price of dismounting, mounting, and balancing is like $40 from what i remember but that could be off since i havent gotten a wheel repaired by them for about 3 years.

I know somebody that fixes the rims for Tyons of Porshe, Audi, FF and Sterling BMW, as well as Tysons Mercedes and Aston Martin. He does side work as well. PM me if your interested in his number. He did a great job fixing my rims, and didn't charge a super high price.
