Castrol Sports Edge 10w-60 for M3

I had a oil change done a month ago and have done 1000 km since when the amber low engine oil warning light came on. Check the electronic measurement and it indicated minimum and required 1 litre to top up.

The last oil change cost me AUS$250 for 10 ltrs of TWS oil alone at the stealer dealer.

I decided to go to the local Auto One store to check out the Castrol oil in stock. I went armed the TWS specs 10w-60 with ACEA A3/B3. Castrol Sports Edge is of the same viscosity and spec and a 5 litre can cost me $80. I don't know whether this is available in all markets but to me it saved me a lot of money.

In the future an oil change (DIY) will cost me $160 and some elbow grease.

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for TWS alternate.

Click the "Search this forums" button in the right upper corner. Type in Castrol Edge. You'll get a lot of thread. You'll have to decide yourself it it's the same or not.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I am not questioning whether I should use or not. The specs and the viscosity is the same as the TWS 10w-60. I am just sharing what I have discovered.

Like many others, you've "discovered" an oil that doesn't meet BMW's specs for the M3. Edge 10w-60 is for M-cars. Edge Sport 10w-60 doesn't meet BMW M specifications and has the potential to void your warranty. Your choice.
