buzzing vibration in shifter/linkage
hi there... not a major issue, but more of a quirk I've noticed with my 6speed manual.
when accelerating aggressively in 1st and 2nd, I get an intermittent buzzing/vibration in my shifter, that can be somewhat audible and definitely felt in the hand. Its mild enough that if i squeeze the shifter tightly in my hand, it quiets the buzzing noise. seems to happen once a week or so for the length of a drive, and then disseappears for a while.... Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Thanks. |

Could be a worn bushing in the shift that is causing it to rub and vibrate.

It is possible this is an issue with the bushings period. I don't know of any TSBs or anything.

Could be the knob lighting connector hitting against the shaft. Pop the leather boot up by squeezing the leather and pulling the boot up, and follow the lighting cable and make sure it's squeezed by the insulation surrounding the shifter, and not close to the shaft. Then drive around with the boot pulled up to try to locate where the noise is coming from, and notice if it's metal vs metal, metal vs plastic, etc. Run your fingers all around to make sure there's nothing loose that could vibrate in there. Good luck.
