Wonder what numbers they would have come up with on the accelaration numbers if they tested the DCT rather than manual.

Cadillac is an another league compared to the M3. The thing has a 650 lb. weight disadvantage and it STILL brakes better than the M3. Straight line is no contest either. Why would anyone think the M3 is a worthwhile comparison to the CTS-V anyway? Not even close in performance.

The caddy is in another league. The league of ugly American cars with huge pushrod engines and big displacement.

Despite a 150 more ponies, it barely beat the M3 on Nurburgring. With that much of an advantage, it should be smoking the M3 on the track, but it doesn't. Imagine how slow that POS would be with only 414hp instead of 556hp.

Not to mention it is super ugly.

I completey agree on the styling, though that is subjective. But losing in braking to a car that weighs 650 lbs. more is pathetic. That's not subjective.

Not sure if you guys read the article or just watched the video but, IL was saying one of the biggest problems with the road test were the tires. They had the conti's on and blamed the M3 poor performance on the tires.

Motortrend came up with different numbers on braking.

60-0 : M3 101 ft, CTS-V 108 ft
100-0: M3 295 ft, CTS-V 293 ft

I notice that they never filmed the Caddy from the front with the audio on. Inside Line no doubt didn't like the sound of the supercharger. Can't blame them. The M3 sounded great.

CTS-V is a slick car. I opted out because of the styling mainly. The engine is a bit dated as well but have to hand it to GM getting that kind of performance out of a pushrod engine. The transmission is a bummer as well. Lincoln is supposedly resurrecting a RWD sedan to compete, rumor of a supercharged 5.0/natural 5.0 option. It's good to see American manufacturers getting into this market.

M3 still lost on the higher speed one. I know it is close but come on, 650 lbs. This whole thread reminds me of how people resisted the Z06 numbers when it first came out.

i don't like the look of the cts-v sedan or coupe at all. i would pick the m3 over both if I go for look.

currently i don't feel any american design except hte new mustang, viper ACR, and c6 z06. everything else just don't look right at all.

People .. let's stop with the inaccurate information. OHC engine design is OLDER than the OHV design.

Besides, I think Motortrend has different numbers.

Additionally, there was a review of the M3 vs RS5 vs C63 that was just released that also has different numbers.

Also, they should of tested with the DCT.

Either way, does it really matter? I don't think I would buy the Caddy even if it had a pair of afterburners attached to its roof.

However, you have to give credit to GM for developing a respectable car. For me, the styling kills it but the performance is obviously up there.
