Would you consider this car?

Guys,

A few weeks ago I posted on here to get your opinions on an E90 sedan. Unfortunately, the car sold before I could go in and take a look at it. Now here is an E92 for sale in graphite and red interior.

I am ok with the graphite but am not sure about how I feel about the red interior.

Does this sound like something I should consider. The car is not a CPO car. What is your take on the price?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

As always, I appreciate your inputs.

Thanks.

looks a little overpriced to me. it looks like it's pretty much a stripped down model. No nav, bigger rims, etc.

You can definitely do better on the price. The car is now 3 years old, so that should be reflected in the price.

Appreciate the response! The car actually does have nav and the tech package.

What do you think about the colour combo?

I like it, the grey and red are natural together. and the red interior spices up the M3's somewhat drab interior imho.

I appraised the car on Edmunds and the price with the options for outstanding condition is $48K, so it definitely sounds like I have a lot of room here.

I do agree that the red does breakup the otherwise dark interior.

Would it be a low ball if I was firm at $48K with CPO?

The current model is 2011, that's three years out from 2008. It doesn't matter about the "real" time. Think of it this way: if you were offering the car for trade-in what do you think the dealer would say, a two or three year old car?

Cheers.

Can the 2008 be updated with this?

Good point! If I went ahead with this, I would be trading in my 2009 135i with 7k miles.

Here is my struggle:

As far as M3s are concerned, this car would not be my first pick in terms of interior and exterior colours and options. I would ideally like a black/blue on black with the competition package. Obviously, my ideal car would be more expensive.

Where I would like your help is whether I should bit the bullet on a less than ideal car to get a better deal. The one thing I am clear about is that the huge depreciation on a new car is not something that will sit well with me. One of my regrets with my new 135i purchase is the huge depreciation hit.

it's certainly a dilemma, but it really comes down the what you're willing to live with. depreciation is inescapable, unfortunately. it's just a fact that we all must accept. the downside of buying a used M car is the warranty will run out soon and i'm guessing that repairs and maintenance won't exactly be cheap.

if you're going to go ahead with it, my first offer to the seller would be around wholesale price. then you can negotiate from there. not sure what wholesale on the car is, exactly, but I would guess that it's somewhere in the $40 - $45k range. it's shouldn't be too hard to figure this out on your own.

good luck!

With enough time and money anything is possible. Easier to find a 2009 with CIC instead of CCC.

Looks expensive IMO...I have seen a number of 2008 E92 with or without DCT for 50k$ or less and less miles than this one (~ 11k miles). Check out the Classified section of the bmwcca.org website.

You have a great point.... but this is the game that dealers play to make you think that a 2010 is better than 2009 than.... in the end this BS for me. I am always surprised to see around here that people ask themselves " ad nauseam" if they should wait for the next model because of this upgrade, of that upgrade, etc... whenever they just keep missing on driving an amazing car, regardless of these upgrades. For me it is really the number of miles on the odo and how well the car was taken care off (eg, hitting the engine cold, doing the scheduled maintenance vs. changing the oil every 7.5kmiles, etc....).

Just my 2 cents

Price is high. I just bought a 2009 with basically the same options. 695 miles on it and I paid $54.4k CPO.

Color combo I like. In pictures it is never done justice, in person is looks l00x better IMO.

Keep looking for a better deal.

Sure it is. But since they use this tactic, use it back on them. Fair is fair. Right? Anyway, that price is too high, period. Use the strategy to justify bargaining. Seriously, I'd offer $45K for it and go from there.

Cheers.

Appreciate all the responses. Assuming the car is stock, what would be the reason for the dealership to not CPO it?

This gives me a good starting point! Thank you!

I just heard from the salesman and he said that it is not CPO purely from a cost perspective and that coverage can be extended after the original warranty runs out.

The guy is very pushy about trying to sell me this car as it must be because of month end.
