E9x battery tender

I have the battery tender from my e46 M3... Will it work/is it the right one for our new e9x M cars?

Thanks

Jim

The lighter socket in the interior is switched on the E9X. If you have the lighter socket model battery tender it won't work as is unless you put an un-switched socket in the trunk or buy an alligator clip adapter and use the jump start terminals under the hood or connect directly to the battery.

It depends if the e46 had a gel-based battery. The e9x does, and requires a slightly different bettery tender than the usual. Cig lighter will not work.

I have the one with the clips that connects diretly to the battery, not the cig lighter, so hopefully this is the right one.

Thanks for the feedback.

The jumper cable version is the one you need.

The cigarette lighter is switched off after approx 20 minutes in e9x vehicles to prevent excessive battery drain (IBS).
