Solid state drives are getting more mainstream, mostly in laptops or gaming/high performance PCs. Their price point is still a bit high and not as much space as a platter drive, but they are getting there.

SSDs are alive and well. Price is dropping daily. Check out the new OCZ Vertex LE. I have been buying Intel X25s until this SSD came out.

Just finished my latest machine:

Intel i7 980X
Intel DXS58SO Main board
Two 50GB OCZ Vertex LE in Raid 0 Array
2TB WD Black
Nvidia GTX 480 Video Card
Win 7 64bit

This machine screams - boots in about 19 seconds and initial Passmark overall scores of 3452. Overclocking is next.

I build a new machine every 6 months or so - cars and computers are my passion.
