Harness bar suggestions needed
I have been tracking my M3 at least once a month for the better part of this year and would like to keep up with this trend. I'm strongly considering installing a single Recaro Pole Position and may need a harness bar to secure the Schroth harnesses. I want something that will be acceptable at most DEs and track days, but if possible can be removed so that I can still use the rear seat for my dog or the infrequent rear passenger. Suggestions from fellow track enthusiasts and sponsors would be greatly appreciated.
![]() Thanks for looking, JC

Was in touch with AE performance to fabricate 5 harness bars.. but they would only do 5 pieces at the minimum to break-even. I couldn't get all 5 people committed and interested so it was a no go...
Also getting busier towards the tail end of summer so I won't be tracking until sept/oct so I didn't follow through with them. |

I've been looking at few options but all of them require at least some removal of rear seats.
AE makes one, which bolts to the rear seat belt and rear seat deck. (white) Evolve from UK makes one, which bolts to the rear bracket holes. (red) The harness bar on M3 GTS seems to bolt to the rear folding seat mounts and the rear seat deck. (orange) None are easy to remove. Perhaps try the buckets with regular seat belts first? I've been doing some karting lately and they don't have any seat belts, but the bucket seat alone held me in pretty well. |

After speaking with AE a good deal, I am going with that roll bar setup. It works very well for them at the track and only requires rear seats to be removed. You will not need to remove the rear panels. Also can be painted any color you desire if that makes you any happier

^Thanks for the info, but I want to keep the rear seats in for now. I'm looking to get a GT3 in a couple years and that will have a full cage.

Autopower also has a solution:
I am trying to track down the thread (not of the Green-Hell in the photo below) but someone else installed this piece and kept the rear seats. They did however remove the rear panel to bolt in... ![]() |

Nice, what cage are you going with? RSS offers a couple great ones that are actually fairly easy to install. Ran with a 7.2 GT3 at my local track last weekend, and damn do they sound good. Do to the cost issue, I'm considering 7.1s a little more. Would like to find a good 7.1 RS if the prices drop a bit.

![]() I am indeed doing the RSS setup! I almost went with a 7.1 RS but it is hard to find a *cherry* one! As far as harness bars for the M3 I have not seen any company that offers a simple solution that bolts in without removing rear items - who knows! |

To the OP I'm with you. I'd love to get a 4/5 point harness in my car (I lap almost every week) and slide around quite a bit. I don't want to change seats either as I like my OEM seats and also don't want to lose the heaters.
I've found nothing....
