Arrow Alekshop: FRM2 coding - DONE

Guys,

We are very happy to let you know that now all of you who are looking to get those nice LCI LED tail lights for e92/93 cars, don't have to spend extra $$$ on expensive FRM3 modules

Today we were able to code 2008 M3 with FRM2 module . The Coding Index ( CI ) was 9 , which according to other vendor working on the same project can NOT be coded.

At this time, we will be offering coding of FRM2 and newer modules (FRM3) to all California customers.

I understand that many of you non-CA guys are looking to get the same retrofit done without wasting extra money on a new FRM3. Please be patient as we are working on setting up a remote coding which will allow you to get it done.

I would like to thank a few members of this forum for making it happen. Without your support and participation it would be hard to make it happen !

Aleks.

Nicely done. Does your coding method also get rid of the flickering at startup?

So no errors, no rapid blinking, and no flickering. I know it's asking a lot, but would you mind posting a video of the startup sequence?

Also, what are the options for those of us who don't live in Norcal who want to get our FRM2 coded?

no errors period ...

i'll try to ask my customer to post a video of the startup, or i'll post one when i get next car for the next retrofit.

I am working on making it happen for the rest of you guys ... as soon as I have more info, i'll post it

I can set up a coding day in Socal if we can get enough people signed up.

Great job!!! I'm in SoCal so I'd be interested for coding day. I got a 2010 9/09 production. GT1 shows that I have a FRM2 when I did a short test so thats what I'm assuming what I have. Let me know when you have the SoCal coding day set up.

You won't have a problem getting enough people to sign up. Set and day and let's do this.

Here is a small video from today's coding session.

2008 M3 with 06/08 production date.

You can see there is no flickering on start-up and no errors on the dash ... Sorry for the bad iPhone quality video ...

Just to clarify in the video, since we are the "other vendor" being referred to.

This is not being programmed by the autologic programmer. It is only shown in the video as a means of determining the FRM type and error codes, which we had added in back on v816 with autologic.

A couple of questions:

What specific control modules are affected/coded during coding of the FRM2?
Is the VO changed or modified in any way as a result of programming?
Do the VO in both the CAS and FRM match after programming?

These are important factors to make clear as to not cause any future issues from dealerships performing updates or even worse - bricking control modules in the process.

There will be no damage done to the modules that are being coded if the dealer has to update them. The worse case scenario these modules may or may not need to be re-coded again.
