People who tend to believe in science find more reasons to disprove that there is a higher power through those methods, so they don't believe.

I can understand why people don't believe in a god. But why go out of your way to belittle people who do believe? What does that accomplish?

I think it helps with personal insecurities. Kind of like how so many people go out of their way to bash drivers of other car brands etc...that and it's very easy to insult someone from behind a computer screen. I wonder what percentage of forum members here are actually gigantic assholes in real life as well...

At last we've found some common ground. I would tend to believe in a sort of pantheism or spinozism however.

I think a disbelief in God is a measure of low IQ. So if you don't believe in God changes are your IQ is lower than normal. Get it...

I subscribe to this point of view. As I previously mentioned, I tend to lean toward a pantheistic view. I don't subscribe to organized religion, but recognize it has both it's positive and negative points. In the end, I'm not sure whether the good or the bad carry more weight.

It goes both ways. The crazy bible humpers belittle people who do not believe the same way some of the people who don't believe in god belittle people who do believe. I think it goes back to the extremists generalizing the majority.

That would constitute argumentum ad ignorantiam, as it's impossible by definition. Science and belief in a god are not mutually exclusive. This false dichotomy is a trap that people use on both sides of the argument, both atheists and religious zealots, who try to discredit religion or scientific method, respectively.

Science doesn't concern itself with the notion of a god. It can't disprove there is a god, for to attempt to do so would be to succumb to logical fallacy, nor can religious zealots prove that there is a god, thus the argument is really quite pointless.
