RENN Spec | Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System for BMW M3

The Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System for BMW M3 consists of flow optimized link pipes with 2 x 100 cpsi sports catalysts and integrated resonators as well as a completely newly developed and now split-end mufflers. This exhaust system, made fully from titanium, reduces the overall weight when compared to the stock system by about 23 kg.




Evolution complete system:
  • titanium end muffler, with TÜV
  • 4 titanium end tubes, with TÜV
  • link pipes (titanium), incl. 100 cpsi Catalysts and Resonators
  • plus 24 HP (at 4620 Rpm)
  • plus 35 Nm (at 4890 Rpm)
  • minus 23 kg (when compared with stock)

Sorry if this is a newbie question...but is this exhaust street legal here in California and pass smog?

We are unsure of whether the o2 sensor adapters will work at this moment. We received the test unit with the exhaust and will test them out on our client's car later this week.

Wouldn't it be a pain when we have to get smog check? how are others going about when smog comes up in a few years? Seems to much trouble just for an exhaust that will not pass smog.

It's a complete bolt-on system so taking it off isn't really a big issue. I would do it once every couple of years so that it passes smog.

The rear section (slip-on mufflers) can be ordered separately. So for those of you who doesn't want the full system, Akrapovic has a solution for you.

The Lambda adapters do not work as of right now, I'm testing them on my E92 for the past 2 weeks using the Akra exhaust. I have reset the CEL twice but after 30-60 miles of driving the CEL comes back and the ECU is not adjusting. I informed Akra of ths issue and R&D is working on it but have not heard back from them yet. I have been thinking of programming the ECU and this will delete the back O2 sensors.

The sensors are too close to each other and the readings are not that different and causes the light to go up after a couple of miles.

The guy that installed my exhaust did a ECU programming and deactivated the rear O2 sensors and until now no lights.
