Thumbs down Comcast Guide Advertising

Anyone else have this? It is absolutely obnoxious, irritating, and pisses me off. I watch 20-30 minutes of TV a day if that. Most days not. I hate it now. Scrolling through to pick out a show pisses me off, so I don't even want to turn on the cable box. I'll give them one week to get rid of this before I formally tell them to go fvck themselves.. For $60-$70 a month I don't need to see this garbage, and it's a waste of my time. The services are too expensive anyhow, but I think this is icing on the cake. I'm cancelling all of it if this doesn't get fixed. I'm sick of them and their price increases, ridiculous prices, shitty customer service, and monopolistic ways..

Comcast - Eat Poop!!!!!

/end of rant

Anyone else have this? It's infuriating!!

PS. When I called the customer representative told me of many complaints about this. If you received complaints wouldn't you just get rid of it? I would love to see how many people actually click on the adds and buy or watch the random excrement Comcast has to offer compared to the number of people who don't want to see the advertisement. Or make it an option and have the option to shut it off in the config. But to integrate it and force people to look at it!!! UFGIOQPWGUIOPO##!!!######

/end of second rant. starting to feel a bit better since I've gotten this off my chest..

are you talking about the banner that goes across the bottom of the guide? It ultimately deletes one line of guide info. Pretty annoying.

Yeah. I can take a picture. What annoys me is I am absolutely never interested in what it offers, and it takes away from viewing more on each screen. Also if you are scrolling down through the channels it highlights it each time, wasting even more of your time..

I'm tempted to get rid of all of it. It costs too much anyhow. Right now cable + internet + phone is about 130 a month. That's about $1500/year. In 10 years, not including all of the rate increases they will probably have, that's $15,000. I could buy some nice stuff with 15K more every 10 years...

That's a 335 in about 30 years. Just to watch some stupid tv, have internet, and get phone calls (most of which are advertising). The more I think about it, the more tempted I am to make the call..

just do it (hope nike dont mind). Anyway, I can tell you, I have been living in a cave for 10 yrs. no tv and don't miss it at all. As for a phone line and internet, this is what I just discovered. Go to this site, att.com, and read about the different option you get. I got att dsl (hey, not the fastest but better then modem) for $14.99/month. You can upgrade your att dsl to 19.99 or 24.99 for faster connection (up to you but 14.99 works for me). Now as far as phone, of course you will need a phone line to your house for dsl. Why not get a att metered line which costs $5.95 a month. There are some rules you must read about a metered line (you only get to use your phone 25 times a month and if you go over the 25 calls, they charge your certain amout of $ for every minutes after the 25th call. Talk to them to get more detail. But dude, my phone bill and internet bill per month is like $25 (that is with tax). Can beat that. The only thing I think you will bark on is the initial activation and the wireless modem fee (these are one time fee). Wireless modem is like 79.99 + 12.95 for s/h. Activation fee was like $20 for me. But I get a one time discount $49.99 for the wireless modem so not that bad. Go read on it and re-evaluate your need for cable and internet.

Also, my phone option does not allow me to do long distance call, in fact I told att to disable long distance on my home phone (I just use my cell phone to call long distance-within 50 states).

I noticed this too just recently! Not only is one line of display gone, making it take that much longer to search through all the channels, but the display changes *every* time you page down, and my eye tends to get drawn towards the changing banner. Before I could kind of just stare at the middle and catch all the titles. Stupid Comcast...

what's dumb is if you hit down or up, it shows three thin lines across the bottom with everything you need to know and that's it. It takes up a very small amount of space. If you hit guide the whole screen is taken up minus the small picture, and it shows information for four channels now (used to be five). What an absolute waste! If they used the small fonts like in the other smaller guide you could probably see 10 channels in the span you see 4 now, and a dumb advertisement..

Yeah the ad changing is irritating to watch too. It draws the attention of your eyes..
