32000 mile M3 and friends

Ive had a nice car day today. f1 this morning and then a country blat in the Indy R followed by a good clean for the cars. M3 is 3 years old and 32000 miles on the clock plus a couple of track days, still looking pristine!

People who visit always mention the Indy or the m3 and while I love both cars the Works Mini always makes me smile. The M3 is like a big doberman, fantastic beast, hardest of the lot but one day, you know it's gonna bite you and it insists on finest steak for dinner.

The Indy on the other hand is the bastard mongrel that's unpredictable, a right handful and as much as you love him he insists on shittin on the carpet.

The Mini though is the Jack Russel, harder than he looks, eager to please and always up for a fight against the bigger dog.

The Englishman in me always likes the underdog, cant help it.

PS. The Tiguan is a fat Labrador. Comfy, predictable, reliable, tad smelly (diesel).

Nip to shops, commute, bad weather - JCW
Track day, blast for no reason - IndyR
Blast for no reason, long trip, family day out, business trip - M3
Family day out involving football boots, rugby boots, wellies or walking boots, towing to track days - Tiguan

Although I've commuted in the M3 today cos the wheels are off the Mini for their spring clean and its on axle stands.

Plus mood affects it. If I need a real good cheer up, M3 everytime. Drove it today for the first time in two weeks, sunny morning, quiet roads cos its school break. What a car, absolutely fantastic.

Vary, mine was £10,000. It's a 10 plate (2010) with 400 miles on it and is the R chassis with inboard suspension and some nice bits and bobs on it (lightweight wheels, wilwood grooved and drilled brakes etc).

Ive seen rough ones as low as £5000 and I believe MK will build one with a car engine for around £12,500. A kit (less engine, transmission, wheels, seats and some other bits) is about £6000.

They are mid market kits (i.e. not Caterhams but not Robin Hoods).

I look after my cars but they are all used all year round when practical. Lots of elbow grease, quality cleaning products and a garage I guess. Not shirking on spend when they need something doing makes a difference too. Have to say, even I am impressed with the seats (pic 2) in the M3 and the fact they still look new after 32000 miles of my arse sat on them. A tribute to Gliptones Liquid Leather cleaner and conditioner!!

The best thing about having 4 cars to choose from is that the M3 still feels like a new car and still makes me smile when I drive it as I dont drive it every day (or even week).
