I don't have it and don't miss it at all.... I don't care for the ability to turn traction control only half way off. I saved the extra money and used if for some aftermarket mods. Plus I think the single hump dash looks much cleaner.

Agreed.
The only thing I'd want is MDM so I can half ass it with DSC off before actually turning it off completely on the track. It seems to allow a lot of slip before kicking in.

Really? I disagree. Personally I think Nav "dates" a vehicle. 5yrs from now the Nav will look like an old piece of equipment. I prefer mine w/o.

I am a ways away from ordering, but I'm still torn on ZCP and ZTP. For me, the E90 would do it all (short of the bad weather/family trip car), including taking my kids to daycare daily and being the fun car (in suburban Boston roads, so not great).

My primary concern is that if I buy this car, I plan on keeping it forever. I fear the tech and ZCP packages just mean more things to fix out of warranty years from now. How reliable has CA, EDC

I could care less about NAV. CA is cool and perhaps very handy with little kids to load and unload twice a day. EDC could be helpful if the comfort setting is more comfortable than the regular shocks. I have no clue what MDM does but seems neat.

Why? Because you will later think "I should have added ZTP", but at that point there's no retrofitting. Of course, even if you do get it and don't like it, you don't have to use it.

how long do you plan on keeping the car? 5 years? 10 years? Remember it has a hard drive base... updates and improvements are much easier than on the old version.

ZTP was 100% required for me... it can't be retrofitted, you buy a new M3 because of the new improvements, why pass it up? Mdrive, EDC, Nav, updated iDrive and Stereo.

ZCP is easily retrofitted and more customizable. Get some great springs, custom wheels and software update.

I agree.

If you are going to keep the vehicle 5+ years DO NOT get the nav. Navs do date the vehicle. I still love the e46 M3, but when I see one with the Nav It truly makes the vehicle feel older.

If its a lease then get the tech package.

Going 5 years without a very useful option just because it will look dated in the sixth year is a pretty weak argument. Personally, I'll never drive a BMW outside the warranty period, but to each his own.

Just because you HAVE CA doesn't mean you have to use it. Other than sensors in the door handles and different batteries in the fobs it's not very different from cars without CA.

What on ZCP do you think will break? EDC is available without ZCP as well so I don't see where you're going with that one either.

Basically, if you don't want them, don't get them but neither should be a "problem child."

The tech package was replaced by the convenience package (ZCV) in MY 2011+. M Drive became standard in 2011 as well.

I disagree, the winter package with those ugly headlight washers is a travesty on this car.

I recently traded my '09 without tech package for a loaded '13. Not having those tech options was the biggest reason I made that choice. Of course, I love the e92 overall and there were other factors involved. But it's like a completely different car if you're into the techie stuff. I use those options a lot, every single one of them.

I dunno, on a car like this, I sort of thing the "get every option possible" mentality ultimately nets out to the best car.

EDC... tech... cold weather... extended leather... nav (even though it stinks)... it's all awesome. I got mine used so someone else paid the premium, then I looked for one with everything.

I LOL at all the "M" button crap here. Who needs outdated NAvi and M buttons, EDC??

I have coilovers and an adjustable right foot that controls the go pedal.

That's a 2011.5, at which time the Tech Package was replaced by the Competition Package and Convenience Package. This one appears to have the former but not the latter. M Drive became standard in 2011.5, so the only component you're missing from the Tech Package is EDC.

I find Servotronic Sport enjoyable during fun drives and at the track, Euro MDM useful at the track, and EDC useful for balancing DD comfort and fun/track driving sharpness, though admittedly the first two can be unofficially retrofitted now.

That implies you want to own the same car long-term. Why would you want that with a turbo motor? Lease that shit once residuals get better and swap it for a new one every couple of years.
