Good deal on a 2009 E92 M3?

I'm in the market for a used E92 M3 2009 or newer.

I located a 2009 coupe, Jerez black on black leather interior. Fully loaded w/ DCT, ZTP, ZPP, ZCP, premium sound, 19" wheels. <10K miles. They're asking 56K.

My only issues are the presence of a moonroof instead of the CF roof which I would prefer. Otherwise, this car is perfect.

My question is whether or not this deal is far better than what would be expected given the above specs. If so, I may decide to pull the trigger anyway and just forget about the CF roof. If, however, others suggest that this kind of a deal may be had elsewhere, I may just maintain a patient outlook and wait for the EXACT car that I want.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. Can anyone chime in on the going price for a pre-owned, fully loaded 2009 E92 coupe? Thanks.

Garage List
DCT or manual? Still, the price seems ok to me.

How close to the 10k mark is the car? 9500 mi? I'd also find out when the in-service date was since that determines how much warranty/maint is left on the car and that should impact the price somewhat. Also, is it private party, or a dealer? Dealers will try to tack on a few k just because they think they can. Unless it's CPO'd I don't see the value in add in buying from a dealer vs buying private party.

It's presently at 9,900 miles. It has a DCT transmission (original post edited). Additionally, the car is a dealer vehicle that is CPO.

However, to bring the price down to $56K, they insist that it is sold as a non-CPO vehicle -- they effectively removed the additional 2 year CPO warranty.

I agree re: dealer vs private party. I was actually about to pull the trigger on a private party deal but another buyer stepped in and bought the vehicle "sight unseen" about 24 hours before I was due to get a pre-purchase inspection performed. I was not about to drop >$50K on a car that had not been inspected closely by a mechanic.

Seems kind of BS that they would pull the CPO. Ask them to meet you 1/2 and leave it as CPO since you've already lost (atleast) 1 year on the factory warranty and CPO != new car warranty.

I agree. However, based on my previous CPO buying experience, the CPO warranty is not equivalent to a new car warranty. Major mechanical components--which are the ones to be concerned about eg transmission, engine, brakes--are covered. However, several components covered under the new car warranty are not covered under CPO. In addition, there is a small but irritating deductible associated with all CPO repairs.

It is a common misconception that CPO coverage is identical to a new car warranty. Dealers play on this all the time. The fine print suggests that it is not.

If they tag on a couple of thousand for the CPO warranty, we start to creep ever closer to the pricetag on an ED 2011. The hope here is to save a significant chunk of change over a brand new ED delivered 2011. If the savings are only a few thousand dollars, I'd rather travel to Munich

Its proving to be quite the challenge to locate a 2009 E92 w/ DCT, premium and tech anywhere in the country for a reasonable price!

I did locate a 2009 E92 DCT w/ just over 3K miles and loaded w/ ZPP, ZTP, heated seats, enhanced premium sound, Ipod/USB. Negotiated the dealership down to $56K -- they won't budge any further despite some fairly aggressive haggling. The car has exactly 3 years left on the warranty.

Does this price seem more than a little high for an '09, particularly one that is non-CPO? We're talking close to $59.5K out the door. Thoughts?

Never mind re: the above. Deceptive photos suggestive of premium and tech packages but just received a copy of the window sticker. No tech, no premium = no go.

The search continues...
