I also plan to try the Piaa Ion Yellow bulbs, I had them as fog lights on my old benz, and the output was amazing.

nice mod... i didnt think the yellow would look that nice but it has a unique look to it. reminds me of the cars that do the 24 hr endurance races.

There is no evidence of any aftermarket lighting componets from outside the headlamp housing. All components (DriverPack and LightSource) are stored inside the headlamp.

yeah, everyone prefers the white 6-8k LEDs but I think the Yellow has a unique look, and of course I got the idea from the LeMans 24hr race. I still plan to put yellow angel eyes on my E90M!

Update......

My lights flicker on start up. I know its doing a light check but this shouldn't be happening correct?

Anyone else have this problem with the post-recall LUX H8 kit? What do I do to resolve it?

This is a documented issue with 2010+ MY, though not all experience it.

The newest revision of DriverPacks no longer require this. All kits shipping as of 2 weeks ago are cleared for internal mounting.

I've noticed this effect shown in your picture. I've seen it with an all OEM system, with the GP Thunder set up and with the camaross+GP Thunders. The rings themselves are simply high sensitive to a narrow cone shaped viewing angle. Out side of that angle the rings can appear almost unlit. This characteristic is the same regardless of how much light is being pumped into the rings and regardless of the relative light balance between the rings. Although this leads to pictures like the one you have shown, I think it is more or less by design and intent. Just like you don't want a headlight pointing to the sky and blinding someone, you also don't want an angel eye pumping out a lot of brightness to the side, perhaps "brighting" a car you are overtaking.

Specifically can you tell us if the AIB system is immune from this? If it is not, which I suspect it isn't, this means the photo is not a fair comparison at all, showing the best of AIB and the worst for LUX. Move the eyes or camera a bit to one side or the other and the image might be entirely "reversed".

The picture is taken head on, I'm not sure how is isn't fair.

The fiber tubing dictates the final outcome, taking the picture at eye level (which is what most people will be seeing on the road) is best. The same would happen with any lightsource, including HID. Allowing the reflector system to evenly distribute the light keeps things uniform.

Three things need to be achieved:

AiB can promise all three, LUX is a very close second. Both LED kits keep inside headlamp temperatures safe, unlike HIDs.

Sounds like you did not even read my post. The rings themselves, regardless of source are very "picky" about viewing angle. With just a slight change in viewing angle one or more rings can go from bright and uniform to uneven and dim. This particular picture shows both AiB rings lit very uniformly and the one LUX ring very dim and non uniform. That may have been luck of the draw or purposeful. I was hoping you would simply admit you have noticed this effect and that AiB can still fall victim to it. Perhaps AiB is almost magically immune to this but I seriously doubt it.

I'm not sure what more I can show - it's a direct head on shot, we're not going to skew angles to make one or the other seem for favorable - no matter what the consequences are.

We simply have a rare opportunity in which a LUX-equipped vehicle was present for the comparison and answered to the request of another forum member. I'm sure the customer is happy with his current setup, nor do we have any desire to push him towards another direction. I would hope our reputation would support that, we have been very honest and forthcoming when it comes to claims. I have no bad feedback about the LUX kit in which I've made quite clear in previous posts.

I had each of my employees come out and ask his opinion on which they preferred - asking them to refrain from answering until everyone saw them and made their decision. Every vote was for AiB.

The M3 will be here for a couple more days, you are more than welcome to drop by and see in person.

The bulbs yes, but you conveniently left out the boards, which are the ones that get hot with LEDs . They require heat sinks for a reason. I bet they're up there, or even hotter than stock bulbs with everything inside the housing. And outside the cavity, seal is compromised; a big drawback. There's no perfect solution .

AiB's FTW - compared to everything else I've seen here for the past 2+ months... (Sure OSS' are nice, but $800 for LED's isn't so nice).

My AIBs required the drivers to be housed outside. Are we able to get some discount on an upgrade since the drivers being housed outside was a fix and not the original design when I purchased mine.
