Encore Innovation Titanium Exhaust - Review

Hey guys,

Here is a brief exhaust review of the Encore Innovation Full Titanium Exhaust for the E92 M3. I'd like to give shout outs to Gary@RennSpec, Simon@RennSpec and JohnnyLin for helping me to secure this exhaust at such a low price. Gary was extremely informative, honest and humble over the telephone. He answered all of my questions and was a great negotiator. RennSpec even threw in OVERNIGHT SHIPPING for FREE in order to meet all of my needs. I ordered the exhaust on Thursday, it delivered Friday and I had it installed Saturday morning.

Packaging

Simply put, the packaging was superb. Everything was packaged in an organized manner and included individual foam pieces to ensure a tight fit within the box. No worries here. The entire package weighed only 23lbs.

Initial Impression and Pics
*Borrowed these from RennSpec

The craftsmanship of the exhaust is top notch. It is constructed out of 100% pure Japanese titanium and the welds are pristine. The exhaust is extremely lightweight, and the flamed areas of the exhaust are The only downfall is that there are no adjustments for fitment, which I will get to next.

Installation

Although I was not present for the installation, the tech told me that it went rather smoothly. The entire installation (which included removal of the stock exhaust) took an hour. This is supposed to be 100% bolt to OEM. Indeed it was, however the tech let me know that this exhaust was the most difficult to fit of the ones he had seen. There were no adjustments for fitment (like on the Eisenmann and other German engineered exhausts), however there were no issues installing this on the car. The tech compared the fitment to the Dinan, as he had apparently encountered some issues with that particular exhaust in the past. He had mentioned that the one of the connecting pipes was slightly longer than the other - this caused the pipe to come pretty close to the car's suspension brace, however I have no knocking whatsoever (and plenty of clearance) so I'm satisfied. The only other repercussion is that one of the tips needed to be installed slightly further out on the muffler to ensure an even look.

I wouldn't worry much about this issue. No other members have reported anything of concern, and no stock parts were modified to enable the exhaust to fit.

Sound

Guys. Wow! This exhaust sounds SO good. I will admit that I was initially concerned due to a few members comments, but hearing the exhaust in person put all of these worries to rest. This sounds nothing like a domestic V8 rumble. The entire rev range is smooth as silk and has a very deep tone. Between 1k-4k the exhaust exhibits a smooth, exotic tone, while above 4k the stock sound is amplified. I couldn't be happier, and I received multiple compliments from a wide variety of people. I definitely wanted to make sure the car maintained its level of class while sounding mean as hell.

I was able to hear the Eisenmann Race exhaust right after my initial startup. Also a great, great sounding exhaust. If I had to compare the two, I'd say the Eisenmann has a bit more character throughout the rev range and is definitely louder all around.

The exhaust was very loud after first start. Very little drone between 1500-2200rpm, but has significantly toned down after about 200 miles of driving. Loud when you want it to be, quiet when you need it to be.

Enjoy the vid. One more to come.
Make sure to listen with headphones or some bass to ensure a more accurate depiction of the sound!

Thx for detailed info! Aren't you glad I steered you in this direction?! Looking forward to it next week! It'll go great w/the GruppeM cf ram-air intake, woohoo!!! I'll listen to the sound clip when I get home since I'm still outta town, thx! Did you get two tip options (full burnt blue & edged) just like in the Renn-Spec pic or just the edged burnt tips? I just hope it's loud enough. As you know, I'm looking for a loud exhaust however, it has to be clean sounding loud (towards F1 high-pitch sound), not just loud & annoying, LOL! I smell X-pipe of some sort sooner than later if it's not loud enough, hehe!

What's up, Jimmy?
Haha, I thought I steered YOU in this direction

It's perfect for me, but I bet you'll want an x-pipe in the future! Who knows, I might do the exact same thing when I get used to this setup.

The combination of the filter + exhaust is perfect.

Taken from Major_Kusanagi's F/S post:

Specifications:
Application: BMW E90 / E92 / E93 M3
Year: 2008 ~
Material: 100% pure Japanese Titanium
Tubing Size: 65mm titanium
Tips: Adjustable 4 x 83mm Edge-Burned
Weight: 18.55lbs vs. factory 52.75lbs
MSRP: $3699 USD

About the same db as Gintani Sport, definitely louder than the Akra but have not heard this exhaust in person. The Akra is pretty refined.

thanks lm1z.

btw, for some reason I thought the consensus was that the Gintani sport was somewhat within the same ballpark as the akra...

I am glad you like the exhaust. With it, the motor will run so much harder after a few days. If someone thinks that the Gintani Sport is quieter with less drone, that's crazy talk.

Possible the full system? But I doubt it. I lot of people are now swapping x-pipes to get a slightly louder tone.

Can't wait for it to adapt!
I have a drop in filter, too. Don't know if I will tune yet.

Sad you had to get rid of the exhaust, but I'm glad you liked it while you had it.

Ever getta response back from them about the all-burnt (blue) tips question? I prefer the edge burnt tips however, additiontal options are always nice!

It should be delivered on Monday & hopefully I can get it installed on Tuesday if everything goes as planned. Too bad my homie doesn't run NTB anymore so I can't use his lift. Now, I gotta pay someone to install it (I don't feel comfy on jack stands)! Only axle-back exhausts I've heard are Eisen. race (deep rumble) & Meisterschaft GT1 (F1 high-pitch). Local guy has a Gintani full race setup (no cats/resonators)...That ish' is loud, like domestic v8 super rumble LOUD, LOL! Not my cup of tea but to each their own.
