Great comparison. Seen it before many times. I think the long-term M3 was beaten down so badly, which explains it's slowest acceleration times.

Still, even with a dated S54 engine, the E46 M3 soulful metallic engine scream even after 10 years gives me the same goosebumps it did the first time I heard it and many of the modern performance engines just cannot match.
