in search of an M3 replacement 6MT shift boot..
dear all,
As you all know, the M3s come with a finer leather (Novillo leather) than regular 3 series.. i've just purchased a ZHP knob for my new E92. However, I was wondering, does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement (Novillo leather) boot for the ZHP shifter? I've asked leatherZ.com and they do not carry Novillo leather, although, they have something similar to it. ![]() I do not wish to cut my original leather boot, since I would like to keep the original shifter, just so I can return it to the original configuration at a later time. thanks. |

Just get the one that is similar from LeatherZ or cut the boot. It took me almost a year to cut my boot but I am glad I did. The ZHP knob feels so much better than stock.
If you are leasing and worried about modding the car, nobody would even notice. If you are worried about resale value then the knob should be the last of your worries.

LeatherZ uses a different grade of leather so it won't match. Cutting your stock one is your only option.

Thanks for all the help..
I bought the car, however, with all the mods, I always would like to have a peace of mind of knowing that I can return the car back to its original configuration (pre-mod) stage.. I guess most of you might see this is a bit illogical... sorry. |

Buy a New M3 Boot
Just buy a replacement M3 boot to match what you have. Should be around $170. Save it for when you resell the car. Then take the one that is in the car and remove it, cut the knob off (attached to the boot) and replace with the new shift knob on top.
There was a post a while back showing how to turn the boot inside out, fix it with a twist tie type connector and then push the knob down on top of it. It looks great. Good luck. |

It's not illogical; it just doesn't make sense. If you want a stock boot, you'd have to buy another stock boot/knob. Just cut yours, and if you ever want to put the car back to stock, buy it then. If you modify the ZHP knob with the lighting (like many of us did), car not only looks immensely better, but feels/shifts much better as well. Plus it's a lot cheaper to leave the ZHP knob ($60), vs buying a stock one ($170). This is probably the only instance where it's better and cheaper to not put the car back to stock
. Take care. |

Sorry for bringing up this old thread, but I'm in a similar boat w/ the OP and I'll likely just cut the stock one, but if I wanted to find an OEM knob/boot replacement one day down the road, where would I go and purchase it?
I don't see it on the Tisher or Turner Motorsports (where I usually buy my oem parts)? Thanks.
