Paul Walker (yes that one) competes with E92 M3 in 2010 RedLine Time Attack

Mr. Fast and Furious himself, Paul Walker will be behind the wheel of a built E92 M3 and joins Paul Dentice and Richard Taylor on the AE Performance team competing in the 2010 Redline Time Attack series. Check out the stripped down M3's specs and photos inside.

See AE Performance's racing threads here:

Here is the M3 participating at RedLine Time Attack.

AE Performance
Driver Name: Paul Walker

Engine Type and Size: 4.0L Naturally Aspirated V8
Estimated Wheel Horsepower & Torque: 360 Wheel Horse Power
Estimated vehicle weight: 3350 lbs Wet - No Driver
Brand and Model of Suspension: Ohlin 2-Way Dampers
Brand of Brake System: Brembo 6POT GTR - Front & Brembo 4POT GTR - Rear
Brand, Model and Size of Tires Used: 265 Series Hankook RS3 - Front & 285 Series Hankook RS3 - Rear
Class: Street RWD

Here is Dustin@AE Performance's post about Paul Walker's E93 M3:

Quote:
AE Performance is about to head out to Buttonwillow for the first race of the Redline Time Attack season. I took some pictures of Paul Walkers E92 M3 before it got loaded into the truck for transportation to the track.

As you can see, we have installed the H&R Race springs for the time being, until we receive the Ohlins coilovers. We have also added an ARP rear wing to increase down force on the rear of the car. As well as 10mm spacers on the rear wheels to give it a more aggressive look.

The interior of the car is gutted from the front seats back, per the rules of racing in the Street RWD class at Redline.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures of the progress!

Here’s the APR wing we installed to give us some more downforce on the rear!

Gutted rear end, plus racing seat.

A peak at the Brembo Monoblock 6 piston front brakes

Original Post
Hey guys!

AE Performance is currently in the midst of building an E92 M3 race car, that will compete in the Redline Time Attack this season. I thought you guys would be interested in seeing the progress of the car up until race day, which is in 5 days!

I will keep this thread updated daily, as everyday we are making changes to the car.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Today’s Agenda: Crash Diet for Paul Walker’s M3

The clock is ticking and the AE guys are busy preparing Paul Walker’s M3 for the track. First step: Make the M3 as light as possible according to the Redline guidelines. This includes removing all unnecessary parts such as the trunk interior (carpet, sound proofing) and front & rear seats. More weight will be shaved off in the days to come. The M3 tipped the scales at 3567 lbs this morning and by afternoon weighed in at 3317 lbs.

The M3 weighed in today at 3,567 pounds with a half tank of gas.

The “extras” that Paul can do without in the upcoming Time Attack series.

5 hours & 2 bloody knuckles later the hard work was shown on the scales. The M3 slimmed down 250 lbs.

The clock is ticking with only one week left to the Time Attack, parts are finally beginning to show up. We decided to run Volk TE37’s wrapped with Hankook RS3 tires 265/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. The wheels are 18×9.5 square with a 28 offset.

Weighing in at 19lbs

Better taste? Not sure what you are refering to with that one, but I am sure he's a competent driver. Seems there are plenty of hollywood folks who can drive. Heck John McCain's wife can drift.

Let's not forget the late and greats: Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. Now those were some cool cats.

Question Why is it a 2-door

The 4-door chassis has more power, better aerodynamics, weigh less, is a lot stiffer and it's cheaper...

Plus, it also tastes better, has a better 401K plan, comes with a free toaster and has the ability to chase off the undead and other evil creatures.

Seriously though - more power, WTF? Plus, it's a custom-frickin car - power is whatever they want it to be. Weighs less, is stiffer? It might weigh fractionally less, but the coupe is definitely stiffer from what I remember.

Edit: I get it now, you read the post title, but didn't read the post nor look at the pictures right? He's in a coupe, not a convertible. I agree a convertible M3 would be stupid choice for any type of race car.
