It was not the colour that was different on the 219m vs. the 260m...the spokes have a different shape to them. On the 219m, the spoke goes fatter to thinner and has a more gradual curve...the 260's are the same thickness through the length of the spoke, and they start off straight and then have a big curve down into the hub.

ROW has had the silver 18s since the first day of M3 production. It is interesting, though, that they are using the Style 219M name for these wheels. The European ones are 260M and it was always assumed (well, at least by me) that the reason for the different styles was the color. Now that they are the same color (well, at least the appear to be to me) I don't see why they would use the 219M designation anymore.

And actually, I question that May 18th date you quoted. Where's the source for this info? People who ordered long ago and already received their cars are getting the silver 18s.

Great info - thanks for posting. I wonder why they have two different castings for the same car that are so similar.

Yeah there was a 2011 IB E93 M3 that has the new 18s. Search the forums and you should find it.

Amazing how a subtle difference in finish can make the same wheel look so much cheaper. These recent pics on cars do look better than the first one one posted by the OP, but I still don't like it.

Starting to like my gunmetals finally. Adding some darker trim to balance out the colors. That silver finish looks cheap for some reason.

my 2011 came with silver wheels. i didn't like the wheels when i saw pictures of them before i took delivery, but they look much better in person. the silver wheels just don't photograph well.
