[Video Review] Lux H8 V4 Angel Eyes

Received my set of Lux angel eyes last week and during the install I thought others could find a video review useful. I also took pictures from different angles, indoor, outdoor, parking light mode, and DRL mode which will get posted along with the videos.

Intro Video: Just before starting install and some notes on another angel eye kit I was using before I purchased the Lux kit.

Video 1: Driver Side installed @ 5700k, 'inside garage' comparison(due to rain) to stock halogen H8.

Video 2: Driver Side 6300K, DRL Mode. Comments I noticed on what appears to be blue glow bleeding and unevenness of light distribution.

Video 3: Driver Side 12000K, DRL Mode. Additional comments on the blue glow thats much more pronounced at the highest color temperature setting on the Lux kit.

Final Thoughts: Both sides installed 5200K. Parking Light mode.

Thoughts on Lux V4 Kit:
While I've only had the chance to use 2 different kits I have to say the Lux V4 kit is probably the best built unit available today. Build quality, packaging, and shipping time is all 10's. From the pictures I've seen of the V3 I wouldn't go as far as recommending someone to upgrade considering the cost of the unit. For a first time buyer I feel this kit is the best choice, however, if your're on a tight budget a unit costing $100 less would perform on-par with the Lux kit in terms of intensity(brightness) and end-result.

note: high-res pics will follow later today

Nice work!

I found the best balance between K and the blue glow bleeding @ 5200K. Any higher, and the blue glow bleeding bothered me.

Thansk for making this review, i'm sure its very helpful for everyone on here. TO help answer some of the questions, Yes we do use both White and Blue LED's. the switches adjust the output of both of them at the same time so give you an overall mix of colors that equal the different settings

You mention that you see hotspots, but also remember that most of the time you look at the car from much farther back and at that point the hotspots mostly disappear. Our earlier test versions of this light were Much worse with the hotspots and we were able to almost completely eliminate them.

Thanks again and let me know if you have any other questions.

That is correct. From normal/expected viewing distances the light mixes well enough to appear even and solid.

The 'K' setting is completely subjective and up to the each persons taste. I've shown the car to a few friends and some love the 12k 'full blue' setting and others like 5K. Creating a product that lets you choose which color you like was great.

Just be aware that the 4 highest settings are for off-road use only because of their color temperature.

Cool videos.

Can you change the switches on the fly and while the car and lights are running?
Where do you hide the switch controller in the car?

Hopefully i will be ordering mine soon.

Great review. Very informative.

I see what your talking about with the spoting, but honestly if your not on your knees looking directly into the AE's it would be damn near impossible to see. The AE's look different from every angle, let alone having uniform color.

Great product for those uncertain which color to go for! My AE's are right around 6000k, so they just have a hint of blue.

I've settled at 5200k. This morning i was taking some videos of the oem exhaust mod i finished up this weekend and i was having a friend do a couple pulls on the car. when the car was coming back towards me i could see the blue hot spots and i didnt like it.

i think its more noticeable at some angles/heights, however the car was coming down the street and i was standing on the curb and i noticed.

Its real difficult to describe the effect of the blue light on the ring which is why I call them hotspots. Youre essentially introducing a stronger concentration of 'blue' as you dial up the color temp through the switches. By the time you get to the 12k setting, the entire ring looks blue with 'white' hot spots.

I saw blue hot spots @ 5700K. I choose 5200K and that's perfect for me. Looks dead on OEM.

Oops, 5700 was typo. @5200 there is no blue and compliment the HIDs very well.

With the hotspots they will go away when you go back from the car 20 feet, or about the distance as cara driving in front of you

I noticed that they go away when you look at it from a distance right in front of the car but they come back if you start walking from side to side from far away? the hot spots keep changing from blue to white as you look at it from different angles.
Im still happy with the lights but dont like the blue bleeding out from the lights so i left it at 5000k

I'd rather have a brighter light than color changing ability. Would definitely sell more.
