2004 5.7l Gto
Anyone know anything about them, i looked at there 1/4 times on dragtimes and they seem to be right around the same as a stock 335i. Just wondering cuz a girl in my classes says that her car is so much faster than mine.
and another kid in my class thinks his 350z is faster than my car just because its a stick, i was like what????? just found that funny haha |

I had a 2004 GTO 6MT.
Had lots of 1/4 mile track runs.....best time was 13.4 @ 105.6 Mine was stock. Most runs where around 13.6 to 13.8 @ like 103 to 104.

You aint "crushing" shit for GTO with a competent driver with that set up, sorry pal not gonna fly. The 350z? Meh, NO hes not faster... GTO? Yes it's a faster car stock for stock and with mods, even worse. Car and Driver numbers don't mean shit and most of it lies in the driver. I beat a C5 ZO6 in my SRT-4 I had YEARS ago that had just bolt ons, I ran a 13.1 and he ran a 13.3... WAHOO does it mean my CAR is faster? Nope? Chances are if you are asking this question youve never seen a strip in your life so you probably will suck ass in a drag anyways.

That's unfortunate, but an automatic GTO? Super lame.

Even with JB3, a rocket engine, and the Warp Drive from the Enterprise, a 335i won't be crushing any LS1 powered car. They make tons of power with very few, cheap mods. Here's an LS1 trans-am giving a 996 GT2 all it can handle on the drag strip.

No respect for the LS1 around here. Too bad, because it's definitely one of the best engines we've seen as far as power/mods/reliability goes.... Not to mention the fact that the LS1 guys usually know what they're talking about when they talk shop.... Unlike here where anything with a roundel is automatically greater than anything without it. |

The fact that a chick is driving doesn't mean it's going to be easier for you automatically; it just makes it seem that much more fail if you lose. There are some chicks out there who can drive.

An old gf of mine would scare the bajeeba's out of me when I let her drive my e46 M3. Something came over her every time.
Must have been the overwhelming fun she had driving her Explorer 99.9% of the time. She could drive and...like crazy. ![]() I miss her.

I smoked a GTO when I was tuned...but at 5800ft my turbo'd car had an advantage anyway. I ran a 103.xx and it ran a 96.xx, I was like 12-13 cars ahead and PULLLING FAST. Im guessing stock I would have been about 3-4 cars on it. Not sure if it had any mods but thats my experience with it.

A stock, well driven LS1 GTO on street tires will turn 13.4-13.6 second 1/4 mile times in decent weather.
A stock, well driven LS2 GTO will turn 13.0-13.3 second 1/4 miles times in decent weather. With intake, exhaust, and a good tune, they'll dip into the high 12s, and go mid 12s with drag radials. They're tricky to launch, but they're VERY fast on the top end for a car turning those times. I'd regularly get beaten at the strip by a couple of Mustangs that I'd just walk away from on a street start. They' tend to have some pretty severe wheel hop at the strip that forces you to launch soft or risk backpeddling. A well driven x35i with a JB3 on it is going to give them more than they can handle if they're stock. Putting the GTO past the mid 12s is going to require some form of forced induction, spray, or changing the cam and heads and then tuning for it. There are street driven FI cars out there that will run low 10s all day long and then drive home, but that's all a matter of how much money you want to throw at them. A 6L engine gives you plenty of room to play with. |
