BMW Vs................Hyundai?
interesting article aol autos (heh) wrote up about the two companies fleet.
of course to any logical person ANY bmw far surpasses the appeal of a hyundai - but that i think is mostly in part to a "cheap" stigma attached to their name. if you look strictly at the numbers - hyundai is not far behind when it comes to performance, appeal and overall ratings/quality (really?) check it out: http://autos.aol.com/article/hyundai-vs-bmw/

Although I'm not a big Hyundai fan I gotta give them props! I think they are killing it more than any other brand out there. If I wasn't a German fanboy I would get a Hyundai in a heart beat! They are primed to take over! Toyota, Honda, Nissan... better watch out!

They've made absolute leaps and bounds in the progress department over the past decade and a half or so.... It's pretty amazing. They're going to have to deal with the burden of the "image" they created for themselves all that time ago, but they're doing a damn good job.

yeah i'll definitely agree that hyundai has made insane amounts of progress in their design, quality and performance in their vehicles.
it is unfortunate that they will have to live behind that stigma unless they decide to create a 'luxury' spinoff brand ala toyota -> lexus, nissan -> infiniti - etc etc. i think that might be a good direction for them to head towards, obviously keeping the hyundai build quality as it is now and improving, but perhaps a fresh name can wipe away some of the tarnished image they have. most people who aren't really 'car buffs' or just don't pay attention usually don't know that most luxury brands are owned by more modest brands.

Hyundai is moving along nicely. If you take off the badges, and look through the image, you will see a good car.

I just spent a week with a Sonata as a rental car, and I have to admit it's damn impressive for a vehicle that starts under $20k. I had an Accent the week before that, and the difference between the two is night and day.
I haven't driven their RWD offerings, but from casual inspection they're still not at the level of refinement you get from a BMW, even in the higher end stuff. I do see them as serious competition for Toyota and Honda, and to a lesser degree GM and Ford. They're offering very good value, and what seems to be quality vehicles at the price. |

Rightfully so IMO. I have 2-3 rental cars every month, so I've been in just about everything in this class, and the Hyundia is the best of the bunch, by far. When you start factoring in the pricing, it's a screaming deal. There's no way I'd take a Fusion, Camry, Accor, or Malibu over the Sonata right now. |

^ thanks
and yea I think the genesis coupe 2.0t with mods would be a fun little car to have around. Ive seen some youtube videos of them pushing 400+. too bad the front end is disastrous looking without some serious exterior mods. |

Bought the wife a Hyundai Santa FE CRTD. Have to say it's well put together, no squeeks, solid ride, economical for an SUV and performance is pretty good for a 2.2 Diesel. Most importantly it's cheap compared to the competition. Those Koreans have certainly turned up the heat and I have no doubt they are going to overtake a few manufaturers in the not too distant future.

so many cars - so little time

When I was looking for a 4 door car last February, I drove a Hyundai Genesis V8 sedan. It was very nice - I almost bought it except that the financing package was no good. Glad I went to the BMW dealer the next day though.
