Can we change trans gearing?
Quick question, is it possible to change the trans gears in this car? The reason I ask, is because I HATE third gear. Our cars get trounced in 3rd gear on the highway every single time. I feel that going to 110mph in 3rd is way too long, and would like a gear that would take the car to a max of 95mph in 3rd. I don't want to change out the rear end because I believe 1st, 2nd and 4th gear are all pefectly geared.

Doubt it. Closest I think you can do is to change your final drive.

I don't know of any E9x M3 with a different final ratio other than PencilGeeks. But in other cars it is a difference that you can most assuredly feel. And you benefit in every gear. You may lose a little mpg if you go really radical, but the M3 already sucks in this regard. I think you can keep your BMW trick M3 LSD and just swap the gears. Check with Dinan. And I'd try a 4.10 if I were you. Cheers.
