Oil Change for 2008-up M3
i was just curious to see if anyone here have done a change oil through the dealer? after the warranty runs out...
anyways i ask one of the dealer and ask how much would it cost not that i needed it since i only have 6k miles on my car.. anyways the guy said that regular bmw 3 5 and 7 series would cost a WHOPPING $300 dollars for a change oil... and the M series would cost more... IS THIS TRUE? |

The M's cost more because the oil is a lot more expensive and you need a lot more of it, but otherwise, it's very simple to change the oil.

I do mine at pretty good shop for $70, and I provide the oil and filter.
So I walk out spending like $190.oo

When I asked about an individual oil change outside of warranty, I was told about 350 dollars.

It's literally 30 minutes of labor at most and the oil/filter is about $125.

I didn't want to wait till I hit 15,000 miles so I did one at 7,500 and cost was around $230-$250, filter was around $30, oil is $12 a bottle for 9 Liters, and labor itself was around $90. It isn't cheap if you want the dealer but there are full kits (oil and filter) online sold to do a change yourself which will around $140 if I remember correctly.
I went to Southbay BMW to get my oil change and routine service done. |

You should consider changing the oil out between covered changes too if you drive 10,000 to 15,000 miles a year since the free change intervals are way too long.
I see you're in LA/OC. Join the BWMCCA and most dealerships give discounts are parts. Crevier is pretty good, while Nick Alexander use to give a very good discount. Not sure how much they give now since it's been a few years since I've been there.
