I haven't dyno'd it but my butt dyno says 30-35WHP. The car really pulls hard at high RPMs - interestingly though the dyno I saw showed a similar increase in torque across the entire RPM range - in my case low-mid torque feels similar to my original Stage 2 tune but once the car hits around 5500rpm it really starts to pull hard. The car actually feels similar to an M6 in terms of power delivery - I reckon it is almost as fast (as a stock M6).

I haven't seen any mention of this tune from Powerchip US - I'd love to see what they have to say about it.

One avenue to get further info on this might be to email Powerchip Australia - sales@powerchipgroup.com
Please provide a dyno.

I have similar doubts on these claims. I don't think 40hp out of the engine is possible on tune alone. Probably involves 93+ octane or mix of race fuel.

you can get 100HP on a tune if you close all the restrictions.. One of the head employes of BMW NA was talking about how he re-tunned his M3 (he's a BMW NA factory tuner) and got 90HP just w/t the re-tune alone. He also stated that his engine will die after a year.. but who cares he can just get a new 4 freeeeey!
But seriously BMW tunes the car to last long, not for F1 use lol, they've gotta keep all the customers happy somehow.

I doubt 100HP from a tune alone is possible without changing the internals (i.e. cams). You could get +100HP with more aggressive cams and higher redline, but you would sacrifice a lot of low-mid RPM torque.

The claim is 40WHP so more like +45-50HP at the crank depending on losses (the dyno was on Dyno Dynamics in Australia which generally read lower than Dynojet). This was on 98RON fuel which is more or less similar to 93 Octane in the US. Of course one would expect the power gains will be lower on 91 Octane.

I previously had Powerchip Stage II (+25HP) and Akrapovic Exhaust (+20-25HP) and my new current state is Powerchip Stage III (+45HP) with OEM exhaust (note I have other modifications which are identical in both cases - air filter, crank pulley and air scoops). The car with Stage III + OEM exhaust definitely "feels" as fast as the previous car with Stage II + Akrapovic. It doesn't feel as it has as much low-mid RPM torque, but high RPM power definitely feels just as fast.

I will be on a MAHA dyno on Wednesday (unfortunately I never did a stock dyno on the MAHA dyno as I only just found one is available where I live) to perform a baseline, as I will be installing Turner test pipes (primary cat delete) near the end of April.

I got just over 360WHP today on a MAHA dyno. Unfortunately something wasn't right with the settings and at redline the dyno was calculating RPMs around 7700RPM so the calculated power from the dyno was out (so the dyno was saying the car was making around 330WHP). We assumed 7700RPM = 8300RPM which gave a figure of just over 360WHP with the car making 230lbft of torque at the wheels at redline

I am awaiting the data files and will post up the numbers...

Of course without the stock dyno I can't say exactly what the gains are but MAHA dynos are known to read very low and the absolute figures are similar to what Powerchip Australia saw (around 320WHP vs 360WHP on Dyno Dynamics).

I'm talking about a tunes from BMW in Germany, that changes all the restrictions..It's not a "tune" from a third party venter, It's the people who built the engine, re-mapping everything.
