Sounds like you've thought it through. The M3 sounds like a good fit for your driving needs (both capacity and enjoyment).

Thanks again for your earlier post, you answered all my questions brilliantly.
Having had manual and DCT if you had to buy a new M3 again tomorrow which would you choose?

I would just like to say a big thank you to all forum members who took the time to post in this thread - there are a few things that still have to come together and if they do i will be ordering an E90 M3 in time for the summer!

Thanks again

Easy answer: manual. The DCT has a lot of strong points but the manual doesn't have some of the DCT quirks, allows more control, and has more driver involvement (which I see as a big plus). Of course, all of this is subjective...I guess I'm just a MT guy. I never use D mode with the DCT and always drive it like a manual (no lazy "let it downshift on it's own" when coming to a stop stuff for me).

I've had both manuals and DCT also - and my answer (for today's road conditions) is DCT. I use in "D" in town quite a bit. If you are not using the "D" setting at all, probably manual is the better one for that person.

Manual is more "involving" but the DCT gives more overall choices IMO.

YMMV.
