Lowered with Eibachs

Just got the car back after getting it aligned from the stealership. After alot of research I decided to go with the pro-kits but with a couple extra mods. It was between the pro-kits and the new Ground Control conversion kit because I want to retain EDC. After seeing how much the GC kit lowered the vehicle in the front at its lowest setting, it looked very similarI decided to go with the eibachs.

I did however modify the guide supports, and got some E36's M3 bumpstops to gain some lost suspension travel as per what Dinan has done with their kit. The car rides great! In comfort mode its pretty much the same as stock but the car has less body roll. In Sport mode it is alot stiffer and jarring on crappy michigan roads. As far as the drop, it went from 3 fingers in the front and 2 on an angle in the back, to 2 fingers on an angle in the front and 1 finger in the rear. Very happy with the drop! Here are the pics.

Where are the after shots? Just kidding

I have thought about swapping my H&R for Eibachs. This might have just convinced me to do so. Stance looks good!

Is the guide support mod major? Would you be able to return your car to stock easily?

Where did you get the E36 bump stops?

Looks good, pretty much what i'm after...

Can't go wrong with Eibachs. I however didn't do anything with my bumpstops. I don't know how critical changing them really is.

No the shortening in the guide supports is not a major mod at all. Any machine shop can do it very easily. It can only be returned to stock if you buy new guide supports as you will shaving down your existing ones. I actually got the bumpstops from a forum member but you can get them at the dealer or getbmwparts.com for cheap. Here is a link to more info on the modification http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=301533

I got it aligned to factory specs but I asked the dealer to put in as much negative camber and neutral toe but to stay WITHIN bmw spec.

Yah I know it is pretty sutble. Doesnt look the car is dropped, just makes it sit like I think it should. I do also have 12mm spacers up front and 10mm in the back.

MY TWIN Great classy and tastful drop.

How is it working with the EDC? I was also considering getting the prokits for mine but since i got the edc i didnt really feel for messing with it because i wasnt sure how it would effect the ride. Any inputs on that?

Could any shop modify guide supports and put in the E36 M3 bumpstops? I bet labor costs would kind of expensive right?

Has anyone had just the springs installed, and then changed the bumpstops and modified the guide supports? I wonder if you can actually feel a difference/improvement.

I did the suspension install myself. Its stupid easy especially the rears. Modifying the guide supports is also very easy and any shop with half a brain can do it. I was going to machine the supports down, but I just ended up building a little jig out of wood to hold the guide supports perpendicular and I just had them shaved down on a belt sander. Did it slowly so the rubber wouldnt get to hot and melt, and kept cooling it down with a wet rag. Took no more then 45minutes to do and came out perfect.

When you remove the springs you already have access to the bumpstops so no extra labor is involved to put the E36 Bumps stops. You arent going to notice any difference in the ride on smooth roads, you will only notice when going ove harsh bumps and instead of bottoming out, you will have a little more travel to prevent that. But even on the stock suspension you can bottom out if the bump in the road is bad enough.

I was also worried about the impacts on EDC. So far no complaints at all, and many other members with lots of miles on their cars with pro-kits have not had any problems either. But thats not to say there isnt a possibility that your shocks will wear out quicker. No one knows yet and no problems have been reported.
