New breed of Police Radar Cruisers in Ontario

Don't know if this is a repost, but thought it was worth posting it anyways.

Check out the new breed of unmarked Police Radar Cruisers in Ontario. I've copied and paisted the article below.

Just your "average Taxi" right…….. WRONG
Oh yes…. It's intentionally designed to look like a taxi, roof light, no markings etc.
But the red lights aren't just "blink". The roof sign actually says "Police"

This is one of the latest POLICE RADAR CARS….. Now in use in Guelph, Georgetown, Milton and Orangeville areas. .......... Soon to come to a city near you.

Yes, I've seen this a year ago..but my friends in Guelph have yet to encounter these "police cars" ...there's so many variation of popo cars these days..you just can't be sure anymore!

Here's how to spot them if you can get a good look...

They cannot have any sense of false advertisement "ON" the car... MEANING, the car will not have ANY stickers on the Body of the car.. (they get away with the Taxi thing because its on top i assume..)This is true for any unmarked vehicle...

and also the obvious, it dosent state livery on the plate...

i just watch for crown vics, impalas etc with black steel wheels...cop or not im careful around them.

has anyone seen cops with hubcaps or alloys?

there was a old school mustang undercoverr with lights behind the windsheild and grille

seen the taxi one before downtown toronto

also seen undercover construction vehicle.. pick up truck

You would be very suprised at some of the undercover cars out there.Our company has supplied them in the past to a couple of different forces.

Yeup, I get nervous too when blacked out crown vics are behind me. I start to slow to a grandma crawl speed.

ya b/c of how many young teens have been racing their civics and have crashed and killed people. Ontario has really tightened up!

Saw a cop car on the 400 near Barrie with bright shiny hub caps. First time I have seen that.

They're not impersonating a taxi cab at all. The cars roof sign says Police and the number is for the station I would assume. As long as it says Police and not Taxi on the roof sign, it's fair game to me. Sucks, still!

YES!! MANY!

on the 407, EVERY SINGLE undercover car has either hubcaps or the alloy rims (im basing this on the Impala). Haven't seen an undercover on the 407 with the black steel wheels in a while now.

By the way, another good way to notice is look for a license plate frame from a dealer around the rear plate. If you see an Impala that worries you, you cant judge by the black wheels anymore. Look for

a) an antenna
b) a license plate frame (ex: Royfoss or North York Chev Olds)

I got stopped last August on the way to Calabogie on the 401 near Napanee by a real stealth Impala with a rear wing & dark tint & alloys.I passed him in traffic and did not notice him as a cop and he stopped me about a mile later.He claimed I was doing 135 which I told him was crap as I had the cruise set 122.He came back after a few minutes without a ticket and let me go,but was real impressed that my being a car guy did not pick out his car.My passenger was quite impressed at my powers of negoation
