Rearview Cam & V1 Hardwire Install with Aleks
Aleks did a great job with my rearview cam & v1 concealed hardware install today. The install came out very clean and he has great cable management skills
The rearview cam works great and we ran the iphone connector into the armrest console. Aleks concealed the v1 into the headrest and mounted the remote display in the center ashtray. The whole install went smooth other than spending a good 30min trying to get the drivers side cup holder back in. Overall, a great install from a great guy! Installed Next to the original USB feed to the iphone Armrest console. the iphone fits perfectly. Video In Lighted up.. the camera does block some light causing some shadowing in complete darkness. Concealed V1 My E90 Rear seats don't have the fold down option V1 remote display install Remote Audio location Thanks Aleks! ~m3soupy |

Eric thanks a lot for letting me to work on your car.
At first I was a bit worried how it will come out since you don't have the " FOLD DOWN" seat option but at the end I was very happy with the install ! Reinstalling the cup holder was a PITA for some unknown reason but it got back in place Enjoy your new setup ! |

Okay, i took some pics during the day and night time for comparisons. I also did a bit of research and the night time video/picture noise is typical on digital sensors (CCD or CMOS). The resolution hasn't changed, but looks grainy (noise) due to low light. I'm sure the photographers on the forum can better explain this. The low light noise doesn't bother me and I can still see cars or people behind me. I'll still look back while backing up anyways.
Daylight (taken from iphone) Night time with minimal surrounding light (taken from a Panasonic DMC-ZS1). Light source is mostly from the Reverse lights. Same Night time shot comparison with my wife's Acura MDX reverse cam. Night time under a street lamp - better lighting = less noise |

I second the jammer suggestion. However, the V1 actually is very good at picking up laser. So much so that it can pick up reflections of the laser that is targeting other cars. That has saved me a few times.
Here's another suggestion -- pair the jammer with the V1 laser detection and mount the V1 high up on the windshield. The V1 will have better luck picking up laser from farther away, but will lose it's effectiveness as you get closer to the source. But by then the lower mounted jammer will take over and do its job. Works great for me. However, the way that OP has installed his V1 (headrest, right?), it won't pick up any laser at all -- just radar. Unless the laser detecters were removed from the V1, mounted outside and wired back to the V1. Cheers.
