Passenger Side Hood Vent

Hi Guys,

I just got my e90 M3 a few weeks ago and absolutely love it!

As we all know the passenger side hood vent is actually sealed with some kind of rubber material.

I noticed on my car, the passenger side hood vent rubber material has about a 1 inch cut in it. Is that normal?

I'm concerned cause I don't want water entering the engine bay from this cut in the hood vent.

thanks

Definitely normal...so that water can drain through there. Don't worry, it's designed to drain that way and doesn't hurt anything. If it didn't drain then it would just fill up with water!

Mine has like 3-4 slits in it, I've never had to physically drain it.
The water just disappears. I'm starting to get worried as to where it actually goes.
Do you think someone is stealing it? Maybe I should file a police report?

Evaporation from heat and the sun are real felons.
