I love your steering wheel but I prefer the ///M trim. As far as painting the interior like the 911 option book - I just think the bmw interior looks better toned down. But thats just me. I love the shifter too btw

See, if you don't go overboard, painted pieces CAN look good. I did the dash and door insert strips and the removable sections on the steering wheel arms.

I second that... would've looked 10x's better if u had red interior but it still looks good IMHO, just don't go overboard with it....

ooo... that actually looks very nice.
the one difference between the interior of the gti and the e9x cars is that the trim pieces are smaller in the gti... so if i were to paint my trim on my m3, it would stand out a lot more.

but i havent ruled this project out yet. if someone with wood trim wants to sell their trim, i am down to negotiate a deal and get this going!

steering wheel was custom made by an upholstery shop that belongs to a family friend.

Nah, that's when you get creative. Think two colors. I'm tempted to get some trim pieces I can paint since I have some ideas that would work well. Darker background with a pinstripe, or a ghosted ///M logo or something along those lines would look pretty sweet if you use the right colors.
