RPI Ram Intake

I got the RPI ram intakes but they've been sitting in my garage forever. I was talking to friends about them and they said the install is a pain and that they get loose. Are they worth the install? I got them as a gift..
Does it really make a performance different?

I can attest that they are indeed a total pain in the ass to install. It involves screwing into hard plastic at a very tough/cramped angle. In hindsight - I prob would've passed on it. There's no substantiated proof of any power difference. I admit I like the look of them through the grille - and that was the primary reason for putting them in

They are rather difficult to install, but if you install them correctly they sit tight and look great behind the grilles. Especially if you have blacked out grilles. The power gains are proven, and the looks can't be beat....install them.

Yes they are. Eloy will ONLY release a product if it has proven HP gains.

Remember, it's RPi, not aFe.

No offense to RPI as I like their stuff, but you can't use a vendor's own dyno claims as any kind of proof. That goes for all vendors.

I have them and they were a bit of a PITA to install. I also had to be the tabs alittle to have them sit flush.

As for performance gains, my butt dyno says no. Not at low RPMs or high RPMs, not at low speeds or high speeds, not at little throttle or WOT, not at cool or warm temps.

I just kept them on there because they kinda look cool and since it was such a PITA to install, I figure I'd leave them on there.

I really like my RPI scoops, especially in the red color.

My installer is very experienced, so it was a piece of cake for him to install.

They sit perfectly behind my matte black grills, and they don't move whatsoever.

it is a PITA. If you're not careful you can lose the screws. Be really careful.

I got RPi to install them directly. They say it's an 'easy' install but right when I read the instructions I was like no way this is easy...

Really guys?? These scoops took less than 10 minutes to install , and they fit nicely with a little manipulating. Do they actually provide a benefit?? Well, I doubt they hurt anything, so screw it.

I have AFE's scoops and I have to admit the grill was a pain to remove - you need little hands to push the pins out. Once the grill was removed it took 2 minutes to install and these scoops use existing connection points so it made it real easy. I've had mine in for about a year and there was no movement with the scoops or the grill. Mine are black so they blend into the grill.
Do the install.

PITA is right i cracked something because i became impatient.
The mod makes sense of forcing the outside colder temp. air into the airbox so i did it.

If a friend would call me to help him install his .....i would pass .

Cool mod though.

You realize the stock setup also picks up it's air from outside right?

Okay guys I've installed them and I feel a difference. If you can get ones for under $100 it's a must.
I got a tech to install them it took him no longer than 15mins'
Just don't do them yourselves.

Nice, but it's really not THAT difficult to install...you really don't need a tech.

I had them installed at RPi so to me this wasn't a big deal. But I did find the installation hard for myself even though it's considered 'easy'. Mainly because you have to drill and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make them look perfect on each side.
