No oil change in over 7 years in my camry!
I had a 92 camry for a year in college then I bought an audi a4 (used) when I saved up some money. I gave the camry to my dad since his car was stolen and he didnt buy a new one yet. 7 years later and he is still driving the camry with 200k miles on it, never changed the oil yet or rotated the tires, or trans fluid or anything!
His plan was to drive the car until he bought a new one, but he has been happy with the camry and it costs him zero dollars to maintain. He is disabled from a traffic accident and probably only drives 800 miles a month. He says that when it drives funny, he puts air in the tires and thats it. I do believe that he has added oil or coolant when the idiot light goes off as well. I wonder if I started doing zero maintance on my 335, whether it will last for 7 years. And I wonder if it would last until 200k miles. When my fuel pump dies and im stranded on the side of the road in my 50k 09 bmw, my dads 92 camry will be coming to pick me up. ![]()

Can't beat 90's-early 00's Japanese cars for reliability. With the newer models I wouldn't be as trusting.

Cars were smaller back in the day too. The 92 camry is much smaller then a new corolla and it probably the same size as a yaris.

dang thats crazy. Well the camry looks really small and blocky. That cant be right though, because my 335 is 188 or something in length but is much longer then the camry.

Is it true the 90's Camrys are more reliable than the 2000's?
We've got a 99' in our family at 120k that's still going strong. Had a blown spark plug wire recently but that was a $200 fix.

As his son, you should take his car in for an oil change. I can only imagine the nasty sludge in that engine. Perhaps sea foam it before the oil change.

That's why my folks have always driven Toyotas. My Father's 4Runner (1998) has over 300K on it and my Mother's 2001 Corolla has 160K. The 4Runner went to 260k on the original brake pads and clutch. We also had a 1993 Camry (5MT) that was killed at 180k when my little brother rear-ended someone but even then it still ran like new. They change the oil *maybe* every 10k miles and all cars are manual trans. They just keep on going!

haha. Once the car quits, he is just gonna junk it and buy a new one. He has been waiting for a new one for a while now. And ive told him to change the fluids and take care of the car and it will last much longer. I said he should hurry and trade it in for some credit, but he doesnt listen.
