Just checked in on the journal - sounds like Nick is continuing to make solid progress as he is off the ventilator now and he is even out of ICU. That is VERY encouraging news to me. Nick IS winning this battle and our thoughts and prayers ARE working. Now is NOT the time to lighten up on this and we've got to keep him in our thoughts and prayers as we've been doing. I'm so looking forward to a great success and a great recovery. Keep up the great work everyone, and Nick - you keep up the great work too my friend!!!! I think God is finally realizing that he's got the wrong guy here - he doesn't deserve this!

Health Update from Steve Reed

Induction stage of chemo treatment was a success. Tests show less than one percent blasts in bone marrow - considered to be in remission. Consolidation stage to begin Monday. Received some positive responses from Nick this morning. He is working hard from his side to get better and making progress in many areas. His lungs are improving everyday, and he is responding well to physical and occupational therapy. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Nick. Stay positive! My mother survived AML just under three years ago. Her initial diagnosis was right around this time of the year and she was able to get a bone marrow transplant that summer from my uncle. Just reading people's support and some of the updates brought a tear to my eye. You will make it through this and you will have a stronger family and circle of friends afterward.

While I can't donate platelets to you directly, or at least I don't think they can get them to you from here. The next time I go in to donate it will be "in your honor", and someone will hopefully be able to use them. I'm embarrassed to admit that I never donated blood until my mom got sick, and have only started platelet donation recently and found the experience to not be bad at all. It takes more time, but I just watched ESPN and college sports while donating, which is what I normally do for a couple of hours sitting on the couch most weekends anyway.

Stay strong and keep positive.
