Ok suffering through these things...colder temps in texas (50-60f) they're fun with DSC off, but literally grip-less. Much like the Kumho MX series, the grip in wet conditions or low temps is severely compromised compared to PS2s.

I have the completely opposite experience, they're great in the cold/wet weather we've been having here in CA (35-50f, rain). Not as sharp as the PS2 in the dry but very controllable and impressive lateral grip/acceleration in the wet.

My Vreds took about 600 miles before they started to grip well. Maybe give them a little more time?
The Kooks are definitely a pretty quiet tire compared to the Toyo's that were on my wife's.
The Vreds have held up great at the track and the wet treaction is excellent. They're a little harsher and a little louder on impacts only.
They're a great value.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

The biggest tradeoff to consider with the Hankook is that the sidewall is not as stiff as the PS2, and the steering does not feel as precise to most drivers. They're a great bang for the buck, but if you are a stickler for steering precision and responsiveness they will not be as satisfying to drive as the PS2. As some have noted, the AD08 takes that responsiveness to an even higher level.

+1, they are actually decent in wet roads, my traction control ESP on my AMG didnt trigger even in rain, full stop to go with a heavy foot. Planning to get my second set once the winter is over!

I'm very satisfied with these tires in my 7 series but I don't think that I'll go for these on the M3. Great tires and excellent value for money but not exactly suitable, IMHO, to a sports car.

I have about 7K miles on these and I really like them. They grip well and they are quiet. I will be buying another set of these after these wear out. It took about 500 or so miles until the tire started to grip.

for the street they are pretty good tires
if you plan on doing any tracking or racing with them...don't

you'll want something better

Been running these so far on my car and though they're not stiff on the sidewall (tend to lose confidence in your cornering), these tires are definitely worth the money.

Yes. Took the car through some tight curves on a mountain road and felt a bit apprehensive. Also the hydroplaning on very wet roads at highway speeds is a bit unnerving. Otherwise no complaints--I'd probably get them again.

Had them on my backs for a few miles with PS2 in the front... BIG MISTAKE!
The patterns don't match and the car wouldn't grip past 40. Took the tires back to the shop and paid 370 extra to get the PS2..Now I'm happy; PS3 on the way

I have had both. The hankook's were good tires and you get more than your money's worth. I had no issues with them as street tires. I did knock chunks out of the rib when they were new and I did a two day track event on them, but on the street they were fine and good value. I never pushed them to the limit on the street. The only issue was that when the surface was "damp", rather than wet or dry, they slipped more than PS2s, requiring the TC to kick in on "soft" launches from lights, and I got some understeer on a damp country road corner once that I wasn't expecting. In the wet, they have good grip.

It is tough to compare grip too much with my Conti DW tires, as I mounted 265/35/18 on the front and 285/35/18 on the rear. I opted for a harder compound for DD, but the grip of these tires has been excellent. They start off very soft and harden/stiffen nicely after they have been run in and heat cycled. The grip of these tires are excellent in all conditions, even in a little October New England slush.

You cannot go wrong with either tire, however, I am probably going to repeat with the Contis as I getting better grip (wider tire) and more wear hopefully. (I went through the PS2's in 10K and two track days for calibration)

One note for the Conti's - they have an asymmetric tread/sipe pattern, so the sipes point in different directions depending on which side of the vehicle they are mounted. This was a bit disconcerting and I thought the tire shop had messed up. I rang Conti and they confirmed the tread pattern thing.
