short answer, no. I' sure it would be possible but it would end up costing you as much as the car. Sell the 6mt and buy a DCT... done deal.

It would make more $sense to take a hit with your 08 and get the '10 with the Lci upgrade, if you have to have the DCT. As far as BMW 6MT's, this is the best one I have ever owned(4 other Mcars)!

I came from a 6mt Audi S4, loved it and decided to go for the DCT on my M3 and absolutely love it, I never ever have it in drive mode except in obnoxious stop and go traffic, otherwise I'm fanning gears with the selector or paddles in M mode. The best thing though is it shifts waaaay better than I could ever shift

U would need a new DME, DCT trans and someone on the inside that could re assign ur car with a new Vehicle order number/program etc. In other words yes it is possible but not only will it cost u a lot u would need to have some real strong connections with BMW NA or know some computer/BMW guru.

There's a thread on E46fanatics, where MIT46 - A MIT student modded a 330i from 6MT to SMG. I'm sure the process would be similar. He also did the engine himself. The current price different would make this a mute point.
