I was driving home from heavy rainfall and suddenly the check engine light (solid yellow) came on. I called the dealership service department immediately when I arrived home. I was told I can still drive my car but need to watch the speed and RMP.
Earlier, I was doing a research and seems like other members who had experienced the CEL also had their engine RMP limited lowered to a certain point. I did not have the lowered RMP limit, but I was told by the service advisor this can either be "serious" or "no big deal" situation. They will run a computer scan on Tuesday to see what's really going on. ![]() Definitely not the best time to have car problems due to busy holiday season, selling home, moving to another town, and family members visiting us.@ ![]() Heard from the service department today, they will need to replace the idle control valve for me and my car will stay over at their place for a few more days. Also, they arranged a rental for me which is acceptable (2010 Corolla).

i would take it easy, if possible dont drive it - its likely nothing, but easier than worrying yourself and watching rpm....
always happens at the most inconvenient times. sorry. |

I had Dinan ECU done back in July and running AFE dry version air filter along with vanguard ti exhaust. That's about it. Car was dropped at the dealership and will be scanned tomorrow to find out what's wrong. Hopefully, it's a small thing@@ I have had too much stuff to keep me busy already lately...sigh

man does not sound like a good time at all. doesnt look like any of your mods would cause that CEL.
maybe the dinan, but even so they should take care of that. I wonder if they need to reprogram something if the dinan ecu flash will get wiped out. |

So, it's confirmed that the idle control valve needs to be replaced. I am worried that if they re-flash the ecu by any chance, what will happen to my dinan ecu flash@@

Bored at work....

They would need to inform you of any re-flash, would they not? Just to be safe, call your SA in the AM and ask if they will be messing with the ECU.
BTW, which dealer are you at?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I phoned them in the morning and make sure that they will take care of it properly. I got my Dinan software turned at the same dealership, so they said it shouldn't be a problem and they will double check to ensure that I have whatever I had back on. I do miss my car and it's been 4 days now@@
