Eric@PYSpeed.com,

Do you know how much the entire Envy intake system weighs compared to the plastic parts it replaces? It won't be much, but I still would like to know. Thanks.

Like this product but am just floored by how much the charger pipe costs compared to the intake cover. $200 difference yet the cover uses more CF. How is this justified?
Is it because the charger pipe itself makes ~12.5 hp itself and you/they are banking on more people buying that just by itself, so you/they mark it up more than any other part?

I would like to know why the charger part commands such an increased price over the other components even though other parts of the system require more CF?

The envy chargepipe is quite a bit more difficult to put together as far as labor alone.

Firstly, it consists of a 2-piece dry carbon mold to be bonded together along and secondly comes with an aluminum piece that clips the auxiliary intake hose onto the unit which we machine in-house. Quite a bit more thought was put into the design of chargepipe over any other enlarged piece of the entire envy system - the construction in labor time of the chargepipe alone is by far greater than any other envy unit and the amount of material used versus the intake cover is debatable since the chargepipe is not a flat shape nor is it perfectly round, which leads to wasted cf material.

Also, unlike many other intake systems we are also able to come up with a design that does not have to utilize the accordion style rubber coupler. The chargepipe is also priced competitively to alternative intake systems.

Hope this help ~ =)

I moved some posts that had pricing discussions to the envy thread in the commercial section. If you have any specific sales/pricing questions, please post them there.

A true CF airbox shaves off ~8lbs, so I'd expect 5lb-10lb, and it would be cool to know.

I just deleted two more sales related exchanges in this thread. If there are any more such exchanges, the entire thread will be moved to the vendor section. The reasons these threads are in the technical section is to seed technical discussion. If the nature of the conversation changes, they will no longer belong here.

Forum members, if you have sales related questions, either contact the vendors directly or post in the vendors section.

Is it dry carbon? In the pic it looks like fiberglass on the inside? Overlay maybe.

It's dry-carbon, not overlay. =)

100% dry carbon. It's so light ... and if was an overlay it would very be able to be so light.
