In the USA, starting price: USD $ 61.000,-?
In the Netherlands*, prices starts at: USD $ 131.572 ! (Euro 88.900)
*That is because of all the huge(!) tax in the Netherlands. In 2012 there is a plan that every car carries a "GPS-government-control-tax-box". That box counts the miles the car is driving. At the end of the month, you get a (high!) bill. So the convernment knows exactly where you drive. Really, it is not a joke, it is a serious plan.

I think Porsche stood up with the 911TT so the new one would beat the GTR

Looks ok but no radio, no door handles, come on.. Weight/speed isn't everything in a car.

A Ferrari I can understand, but most people purchase Porsche's as DDs, not sure I could even take a test drive without a radio lol. Best looking Porsche IMO, other than Carrera GT. Wish they would redesign the 911 but apparently everyone likes this look. Anyone know what the Panamera Coupe will run? <$130?

What Obama suggests - about f.i. the plans on healthcare - is in our opinion very, very conservative. Even our most right wing political party, is much more of a solcilistic party compared to the US Demcratics. Really it is. But lets not talk about politics.

Above all, we have our petrol prices: In Holland it's $ 2,30 for 1 litre (US octaan 93). How much is it in the USA?

That is nuts. In my neck of the woods you'll pay about $2.90-$3/gallon. Which works out to around $0.75-$0.8/ltr.

Yes, gas is ridiculously cheap in the states when compared to overseas. Our petrol taxes are much much less than what you guys have to pay, which I believe accounts for most of the difference.

What's sad is only about 10% of American drivers could honestly afford to drive if gas was $6-7/gal. probably would do some good though.

I think it looks awesome, definately better than the Cockster and would no doubt be a blast to drive. BTW, am I the only one who is bugged by the name? Boxter Spyder... aren't all Boxters convertables?

The door handles thing is pretty cool, actually. This is how Porsches were up through the 80's. I always liked that, it's just a cool little thing I guess. Remember how the S2000 brought back the "start button" instead of turning a key? That was one of the first things people would talk about when that car was new. Now practically every car out there has a start button. I think Porsche is trying for the same thing, for the nylon loop door handles to be a nostalgia thing to get the fans excited.

+1. Nostalgica, thats a good word. I do agree on that. Look f.i. at the 911 Sport Classic, also a great machine. Back to the the Spyder. Porsche says, it's about 10(!)seconds faster on the Nurnburgring (Germany) compared to the 2009 Cayman S. And that's a lot (if it's true..). The Cayman S goes around in about 8.06 minutes. The Spyder could have a time around 7.55 minutes. That's f.i. 10 seconds faster than the E92M3 and it's in the Ferrari F430 territory! We will see..

By the way, the standard car comes with(!) a radio-cd player, but without the aircon. Almost a bit M3 CSL like.. I think, this Spyder is an absolute winner for those of us who are addicted to thrill of driving and handling..

Maybe now I can understand the handles, seemed a little overkill at first glance.

I have to say, I love Porsche. How can you not? But you know, every time I tried to price one out on the net, it's almost discouraging because there are so many options and such limited info on each option. Maybe I should have just discussed it with a dealer instead. Either way, we all know how quickly the price jumps with even a few basic options. It is truly an ala carte kind of car.

Just saw the boxster spyder at LA car show...looks very good...not a fan of the boxster's looks...but this one is much different. They really transformed the car.

But then i walked over to the 997.2 GT3 RS and well we shared a special moment.
i dream of it...

if they do make the cayman clubsport and puth the gt3 engine in it,,,porsche would destroy any car, GAME OVER!
