Interlagos Blue E92 M3 - Modification Journal
Day 1 - Pick Up
I picked up my car on 01/18/2009 after it sat on the dealer's lot for about 4-5 months. I got it at invoice so it was a pretty good deal with the BMWFS financing special. It came fully loaded with: Premium Package Technology Package Cold Weather Package M-DCT 7-speed transmission Style 220M 19" forged wheels Park Distance Control iPod Integration Enhanced Premium Sound HD Radio Moonroof The first mod on the car was removing the tinted tail lights on my E92 335xi and install them onto my new M3. The second mod was winter wheels / tires package on the day of pickup: NEEZ EuroCross 10th Anniversary 7Model 19X8.5 ET35 front with 10mm Rogue Engineering spacers 19X9.5 ET35 rear with 15mm Rogue Engineering spacers Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 winter tires 255/35R19 front 265/35R19 rear It wasn't snowing that day, but I was sliding almost sideways taking the highway on ramp on my way to the shop to put on my winter tires. Here's a couple shots on the day of pick up:

One of the first things that I did on this car was to lower it since I don't like the stock ride height. However, I don't want to lose the EDC so I decided to go for just lowering springs. After reviewing multiple products online, which include RD Sport, H&R Sport / Race, Eibach ProKit, and AC Schnitzer, I decided to go with the AC Schnitzer springs. They are actually made by Eibach to AC Schnitzer's spec. They are significantly more expensive than other springs, but I do like the drop and the ride quality of the springs.
Nick @ JLeviSW got me the spring at the best price with a good discount of freight to Boston. Here are the results of the drop: While we changed the springs, I also popped a set of 6000K D1S Ultinon to replace the stock 4300K HID bulbs. The cornering lights were upgraded with a set of PIAA Xtreme Force 4700K H3 halogen bulbs. The angel eyes were temporarily replace with a set of PIAA LED angel eyes.

Next, we tackled the chromed kidney grilles and side vents by replacing them with gloss black painted variant. The front kidney grilles were in fact matte black kidney grilles with the surrounds painted in gloss black. The side grilles were OEM grilles with the M3 sticker slot filled in and the entire unit painted gloss black and the LED turn signal lenses tinted black as well:
HID angel eyes were installed to replace the crappy PIAA that I recycled from my E92 335xi: I also did my own LED interior conversion:

For exhaust, I have chosen the Fame Freiheit unit made by Tanabe in Japan.
And paired it up with a 3D Design style 1x1 carbon diffuser from JL-Motoring: On that very same day, I also traded my beloved NEEZ EuroCross 7Model for a set of Yokohama Advan RS as well:

With the help from Simon & Gary @ Renn-spec, I was able to acquire a factory pre-painted Euro front bumper directly from Germany. I paired it with a Vorsteiner style front lip from JL-Motoring with a custom paint scheme to make them look like the old CSL splitters:

Decided to take my car to a whole new different direction and took off carbon roof overlay and the Vorsteiner style front lip:

I really like where you've taken your car, Kev. It's nice to see the ideas of a fellow chrome-hating IB owner. I probably would have kept that Vorsteiner-style front lip though. It looked amazing.
Are you planning on sticking with the OEM 19"s for now?
