![]() May the best car win. So says General Motors' Bob Lutz, and he's willing to put his Pilotis where his mouth is... so to speak. On a conference call last month, Maximum Bob challenged any journalist to a duel with the Cadillac CTS-V, and, not surprisingly, the mantle was picked up right quick by the boys at Jalopnik. Rules? Sorta. Any stock production four-door sedan is reportedly eligible to go up against the Big V, and the drivers will be lining up against the clock on October 29 at the Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, N.Y. While Jalop's Wes Siler was originally slated to go up against Lutz in a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, that car has since been switched out in favor of the Jaguar XFR (earning the ire of TTAC in the process). Here's the best part: Anyone who happens to own a new comparable sport sedan, such as a BMW M3 or M5, perhaps a Mercedes-Benz AMG sedan or the Audi S4 (not to mention the Mitsubishi Evolution), is welcome to submit themselves for consideration to take part in the festivities in New York. We're not sure how the participants will be selected or exactly what the racing will entail, but if you're interested in throwing your hat into the ring, click here. For what it's worth, we've driven the CTS-V around Monticello, and we figure the smart money is on the Daddy Caddy.

Same here. I saw one a little over an hour ago when I was filling up gas, and I couldn't stop staring.....Not because I liked it, but because I rarely ever see one. It was black and it looked sharp, yet it's still not a car that I would desire to have.

For what the C63 is, its light. My 335 is almost that heavy and so is the M3...and when you actually consider that the C63 has a 6.2 V8 which has to be heavy!!! impressive stuff

I believe the C63 is more than likely upwards of 3800 lbs. but the weights I've seen published vary greatly.

I would venture a guess as to anywhere between 3900-4000lbs based on driving one frequently and the random specs that are thrown out there.

In Motortrend, the CTS-V ran a 103.9 lap time compared to 105.4 for the Jaguar XF-R. 1.5 seconds is a lot to make up on a track (Laguna Seca for this test). Randy Pobst drove both cars.
If John Heinricy is driving the Caddy, no journalist stands a chance against the CTS-V no matter what they bring. That guy is a real hot shoe!

Wow, that's fair. A bunch of journalists in presumably slower cars versus a race driver who set the Nurburgring record for the CTS-V. Maybe an M5 with Bill Auberlen. That Road and Track issue with the M5 Vs CTS-V was close. The M5 was just as fast around the track, and the Caddie only managed to edge out the 4 year old M5.

Someone should bring that Eco Boost Lincoln to show Ford how a fair test should be done.

Anyone who is talking crap about the CTS-V has clearly never uncorked GM's new super charged small block. I was fortunate enough to drive a ZR-1, that engine can almost alter time.

The most impressive part to me is that they're able to sell it for under $60k with that engine in it! GM is doing some really impressive stuff these days. The CTS-V coupe is going to be a monster! |

The Caddy is a half second quicker than the Jag through the 1/4 mile, and there's not enough weight difference between the two (about 100lbs) to allow it to make up that much difference in the corners, considering the CTS-V is also rolling on wider rubber. |

Is there anyone with a stock C6 RS6 in the US interesting in taking part or because it's not sold Stateside would that rule it out.
I bet it would give the big Caddy a run for her money. |
