Agree, the ACR is not to be trifled with, big horsepower, even bigger hoosiers and legitimate downforce.

Non-novice group. Car was making 1:30 lap times with driver and passenger and some shit in the trunk..

Which track? Anyway, my point stands. Put the same competent driver who wants to go fast in both cars, and I doubt the GTR will walk away. As far as I know, the ACR beat the GTR at the Ring by 7 seconds, and that's without the ex-F1 driver and months/years of fine tuning at that track.

Willow springs the big track the ACR was overtaken in turn 9. Also remember the GT-R is modded to ~600hp crank with R888 tires and a lil Carbon fiber weight reduction (Carbon hood, trunk, Carbon rear seat deletes). Either way I'd take a GT-R over the Viper anyday regardless. I believe the ACR did a 1:29 or something with steve millen behind the wheel before so its not nesscessarilly alot faster. I do believe the ACR is a nice car but its not gonna rock a modded GT-R imo.

I believe the ACR did something like 4 hot laps on the ring. It was only their for a DAY.

I would only take a GTR over an ACR if I lived in Alaska

Hey, you said "slightly" modded. I'd say ~600hp at crank is significant (even if we assume the thing really has 520-530 crank stock). I'm not saying the GTR is not a great car. I just don't see it "walking away" from an ACR based on its specs and everything I've read. I have driven neither. Don't know anything about Willow springs, so can't comment on the time. I guess the choice would also depend on intended use. Sounds like the ACR is a pretty adjustable car (suspension and aero) out of the box for the track.

600hp is just just basic bolt ons and a tune nothing special. You really need to drive a GTR on a track to "get it" if you know what I mean. And yea based on the spec sheet the ACR should shit on a GT-R but in reality it doesnt.

Yes, that is consistent with what everyone is saying about the GTR. I don't necessarily expect the ACR to destroy it or anything, but stock vs stock, it should have an upper hand if driven by a qualified driver. I can only imagine it would be harder to drive than the GTR.

Since you guys are cousins, why don't you do a trial for a week and see how you like the GTR? If its to your liking, then make the trade final.

If you're willing to deal with the maintenance costs, then go with the GT-R since the performance difference between that and a E93 is pretty massive. Luxury/comforts are probably a different story.

Again. What do people mean by "maintenance costs"? I have 14000+ miles and 3 services on my GT-R and haven't forked out any money.

To add to your point, I recall reading in last month's Motor Trend that their long-term GTR has been very cheap to maintain.

Biggest mistake with the GTR is lack of manual transmission. What were they thinking? Its not a freaking video game, its a sports car, put a real tranny in it for those that actually enjoy driving. Its a car for women IMO. There is more to driving than that extra .5 of a second to 60mph.

I second the c6z06, although I'm biased, I had a c5z06. I'll definitely own another z06 or zr1 someday - was such a great car.

This childish stuff gets tiresome. Nows it's a car for women. Sheeeez.
Are Ferraris and Lambos for girls too? How about F1 cars?

I wish my wife drove this:

It seems that internet banter on the GT-R is viewed as a higher source of credibility these days as oppose to feedback from actual owners.

Terrible post. I guess the gents over in Munich are just as crazy as well? What were they thinking developing the M DCT gear box?? Who would ever want a transmission that shifts lighting quick, with virtually uninterrupted power to the wheels.

Dude, the woman comment is a pretty ignorant statement. I'm not one to call people out on here, but that is pretty lame bro. I am in no way a fan of the GTR, but as a car enthusiast, surely appreciate its performance numbers and the engineering that went into designing it (as many a forum member on here does as well). I would not deem this car as being for a woman.

Corvettes come in a automatics too I and I've seen more chicks drive corvettes so I guess its a woman car also. But if the GT-R is a really a "woman" car then the Vette is like a payless running shoe both are cheaply made.

I take the woman comment back. That was inappropriate.

But I still think that flappy paddles are for people who dont appreciate wheat real driving is all about.

You can go on all day about how dct or similar designs are faster, but you'd be totally missing the point. Is it faster on track, 0-60, launch control... Yes, obviously, thats why F1 and race cars use it, but I dont really get in my car to have it drive me. I want to be in control... its uhm, the whole point of having a fun car.. Learn to REALLY drive people, you're missing out!
