if you like the look of it, goes for it. the extra performance wouldn't hurt either.

What a change, from an airy convertible to a stuffy coupe. It's nearly as bad as changing from an M3 coupe to a big diesel saloon.

I take it you have tried the GTR already, if not then you are jumping the gun a little because the GTR is extreme to say the least, it's ride is rock hard compared to the smooth riding M3 convertible.

If you go for it, then good luck with the service bills, I hear they are a little on the large side.

...but also depends if your M is dd or weekend only...if you are ok with and want a more expensive, higher track performance & a 4 wheel drive car you'll have a harder time living with on a daily basis, then go for the GT-R...but the M3 is the perfect combo for looks, speed and dd IMO...& dont forget, its V8 rear wheel drive baby

Although I also love it, I think the GT-R is only good as a second or third car, not dd

Where do people dig up this stuff? Service bills? Please elaborate.
I have 14000 miles on my GTR and have had 3 mandatory services that cost me nothing.
As far as ride is concerned I think anyone buying a sports car can handle it.

And yes buy the GTR.

GTFO is what I think. Grow up and make your own decision. I can't see that someone who bought a convertible would want to get a GT-R.

Yep just spent all day at the track with a slightly modded one. Nothing was able to touch it. It maybe my next car.

Walked passed R8's, a Viper ACR , M3 E92 , Bunch of subaru's and alot of other nice random cars. Everything had to move out of Godzillas way.

Is it stock or modded? How did he drive it?

Wow... too me... apples and oranges... especially if you have a vert. (Which is something I can't identify with).

M3 is going to ride better, be easier on you on road trips, and fit 4 more pleasantly.

If you don't like dropping your top... taking more than 1 other person with you... and more of a 'weekend' cruiser... than the GTR is a shoo win.

What run group were you in? There are a lot of people on the track who don't know much about how to drive fast or just don't want to for various reasons. I don't see how the Nissan GTR walks away from a Viper ACR when both cars are driven well.

Agreed. I feel that the only way to truly determine the track merits of any car is to have 1 or 2 competent drivers pilot each car and log the results.

I've seen a Mini Cooper S convertible smoke every car on the track a few years ago. There were various fast cars there whose owners laughed at the Cooper driver for even coming out. They ate their words after the event was done.

Obviously, it was the quality of the driver, not the car that won the race.
