New M3 on the way due to some bad circumstances

Hey Guys,

I haven't posted very much lately because on June 7th I was involved in an accident in my M3 and it was written off.

I was driving up a city street here in Fort McMurray travelling approx 100km/h (which is about the speed of traffic flow on that particular road at any given time) when a guy in a White 96-99' Mustang cut me off almost clipping me in the process. I braked and swerved to avoid hitting him but ended up loosing control of the car (DSC was disabled..... I was in M mode) going over the curb, hitting a retaining wall rolling over once and comming to a rest on the wheels. I literally took off my seatbelt, opened the door and got out of the car without a scratch, a testament to the sound engineering and amazing saftey of our vehicles. The guy in the Mustang never stopped..... fortunately lots of witnesses stopped and gave statements confirming the events that took place.

My insurance company really tried everything they could to deny my claim and alleged that I was racing the Mustang so they would not have to pay. I was able to get one of the main witnesses to give a written statement to my insurance company to help settle my claim. Anyhow it took 13 weeks from the date of the accident to get paid but on the 16th of September I picked up my check in the full purchase price of my car. WHAT A RELIEF!!!

So yesterday I just ordered a 2010 E90 M3 in the following spec:

Paint and trim:
*Individual Moonstone Metallic
*Individual Rust Brown Extended *EDIT: As of Dec 23 I have changed the interior to Individual Amarone Extended (Pending approval from BMW AG)
*Individual piano black trim with inlay

Options:
*Individual composition (Individual paint, Individual trim, high-gloss shadow line)
*Individual Extended Leather
*Executive Package (Power fold mirrors, universal garage door opener, electric rear sunshade and manual side sunshades, adjustable seat width w/lumbar support, compass mirror, PDC (rear), Sirius satellite radio, USB audio integration, BMW individual sound system)
*MDrive Package (MDrive, BMW on-board navagation, voice control, HD radio, iDrive, MDrive button, programmable memory keys and hard drive)
*EDC
*19" wheels
*Manual Transmission
(Please keep in mind that the Canadian Options and Option Packages are much different than the US)

I requested delivery around April 15th or so.....after the snow is all gone and the roads are clean. The dealer is going to put the car in the system for a February Build. Now I have to go through this waiting game all over again.

If one good thing came out of this it is that Individual Leather colors came available for the M3 for 2010 so I am able to get my preferred choice in interior color which was unavailable to me in my 09 M3.

So guys, wish me luck..... I want to keep this one for more than 2.5 Months!

EDIT: After seeing the Leather Samples at the dealer I have decided to go with Individual Amarone instead of the Rust Brown Individual. The Rust brown is less Orange than it looks in pictures and more of a darker brown than I wanted. I was looking for a color very similar to the Cinnamon in the E46 but the Rust Brown is not that color.

good luck with the wait. I don't know how one could subject his/herself to such torture.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Insurance companies s*ck! They would go to any extent to raise the premiums on the driver. Glad everything worked out for you.

Glad to hear you liked your M3 so much that you are going for a second one after totalling the first one.

Wow, thats a terrible situation, but luckily your insurance did what you paid them for in the end

Good choice on the individual options, may make the reward a little better after the wait

Good to know that everything is working in your favor at the end. Now the waiting game begins (again)

Great choice of color combo by the way. Moonstone is a great color!

Sorry to hear about the accident but I am glad you are ok. I love the Moonstone and wish I had ordered that color. How was the color to keep clean on the first one? I love my JzB but it is a PIA to keep clean.

I would guess you are the first one to order two Moonstone M3s.

Color was very easy to keep clean...... I absoutely loved the color. I was a little nervous ordering a car in a color sight unseen but once I got the first look at it in the service bay getting PDI'ed I knew I had made the right choice. It was so nice that I never even considered ordering the 2010 car in any other color. I was going to order a carbon copy of my 2009 until I found out I could do Individual Rust Brown, I think it will be amazing!

As for being the first to order two Moonstone M3's you are probably right. I don't want to have to order a third..... at least not for a few years anyway.

Let me know if you make it down anywhere near Massachusetts. I would love to see the car in person. Good luck with the wait.

It is possible I will make it near Massachusetts..... I plan to do a drive across Canada and Back next Summer and I intend to drive in at least one direction through the US. I am just not sure if it will be heading east or heading west.

Glad you are OK and glad there were witnesses willing to help. Somewhere on a mustang forum there is a guy talking about how he smoked a M3 LOL.

Sorry about your accident with the first M3, and the new order sounds like it will be a very sharp car indeed.

Just my opinion, as someone who has been to Fort Mc, if I lived there, I would drive the biggest, ugliest piece of junk I could find to protect myself from the other "drivers". The wild west lives again......

Wow man that's some crazy shit! Just shows you how fucked up insurance comapnies are. they are not in business for paying off pewoiples claims, but rather denying them.

Great order on paint/interior by the way, should be an awesome car!

Glad you are OK and that you were not hurt at all. Also, glad you got the insurance to cover the replacement. Do you have any pics? Just curious to see what the car looked like after that.

Here was my post from my accident.

We are now the second to order E90 M3's after they got totaled in crashes.

I love the Moonstone and thanks for sending me the pics when you took delivery. I almost ordered Moonstone until I found Brilliant White. The specs for your new M3 sounds awesome!

This is another reminder to us all, "Lets be careful out there!"

I do have some pictures of the accident that the police took, I'll post some tomorrow when I get home from work. Suprisingly all four doors still opened and closed and the passenger compartment remained totally intact. It was amazing how well the car took the collision.

I agree with you, Drive safe guys, things can happen in the blink of an eye. I went for a quick drive after work to grab a coffee, only thing is my car never made it home ever again. It could have been me or some other innocent individuals that never made it home again.

I used to drive around in M mode quite often.... My settings were Sport Plus throttle, Sport servotronic, Normal EDC and DSC off.
