Snow! When to make the switch
Friggin snow this AM in Boston area - I think it is a fluke and it will get nice again. I usually wait until thanksgiving weekend to put the winter package on. When do you guys do it (for those that drive the M in the winter)?

Thanksgiving weekend is probably a good time..
The snow storms we get now are sporatic.. but starting in December sometimes they just come one after the other until March rolls around..The freezing cold is not good for summer tires either.. they turn into hockey pucks and slip and slide around.. have to be careful even with no snow.. --mike |

I hear ya - left the house at 6:30 this morning and the tires were pucks. The slip light was on every 2mins. Will wait until Nov - just ordered the winter package from tirerack today though!

Put it on when the temp is cosistently lower than 4 degree celcius. At 4c or below, your PS2 will harden and you will lose your grip. For the past two winters, I were able to wait till late November, early December to put on snow tires. However, I don't drive that long or that much so I was ok with the 335xi. However, for the M3, I would be more cautious and put the winters on earlier.
