Yes, just another short-term fad to satisfy that insatiable, youthful desire to be different. It is the BMW-equivalent of a "rat-rod." This one too will pass . . . hopefully along with the grotesque overuse of the term, "sick" applied to things other than illness.

They should have the Reventon color, which is something like this but darker.

I'd be interested to know how well the matte finish wears over time. I've never seen a matte painted car in person but I'd be afraid like other matte finishes that it could be marred too easily. It would suck if you cold see where someone rubbed up against the car. I assume you can't just wax and polish this finish.

Trying to get one in Cali...

I'll keep everyone posted on my efforts... probably totally in vain, but its worth a shot.

Dealer is trying to see what they can do and how much it will cost...

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy Space Grey and find a reputable shop apply the matte clear?

and even if it was cheaper, I dont care how good the body shop might be. it will NEVER be OEM quality!!

Absolutely incorrect. A quality shop could match the quality of the OE. The $5k might be a tie for what it costs as long as you start with a space grey car.
